I was told (probably by Joel Meyerowitz) that the design of the rangefinder camera lets the photographer's right eye to view and focus on the scene the viewfinder (due to the majority of people is right-eye-dormant) and at the same time use his/her left eye for a better sense of composition and 'decisive moment' decision before clicking the shutter 🎉

I'm in transition from shooting with SLR to a rangefinder film camera now. Since I'm into street photography, do you think it's worth the time and effort to practice a bit of the usage of the rangefinder cameras and eventually get used to it? I've started using SLR since the beginning of my photography journey from my father. I've never really used the rangefinder cameras except some cheap point and shoot back in the 70s or 80s. LOL

Why do KZbinrs ALWAYS think they know what lens a non-professional shooter should and should not buy? You don't know everyone's financial situation. Some of us may just have extra money to spend on our hobby and we like to get the best of the best.

I'll say it, Nikon F series with titanium shutters, and canon rangefinder with aluminum shutters were much better. You're just wasting money for a red dot.

On ebay there are lens with little scratches, tiny dust on the glass... for 50 dollars...will it be a good buy? I saw a youtuber that bought it for 26 dollars..and in very good condition... is it true? The best one I have found are for 70 dollars on ebay.

If your not a professional Id steer people away from canon full stop its just such an expensive system and all physically large. Apart from those little Marco primes which are completely the other way canon sorely need a middle ground

Great video! Not sure if it’s a YT app glitch but I haven’t been seeing the like button under the video. The first one is the share button. Probably a glitch but sucks I can’t like this right now.

I played this video when I wasn't looking, and for a second I thought I accidentally opened a GxAce video 😅 In all seriousness, this video is wonderful. Wonderful music, editing, and what a wonderful lens as well! I've found 3 of this exact lens in amazing condition in a shop nearby but didn't buy them. I think I will now!

Would this be okay to use indoors in terms of not setting off fire alarms, or is there any alternatives?
@StevenSchultz
@StevenSchultz 2 ай бұрын
From personal experience, I’ve never set off a fire alarm with this. According to Atmosphere Aerosol’s website, if it’s highly concentrated near a smoke alarm, it can set it off, so you should still be mindful of how you use it! But I’ve never had a problem with it in rooms with higher ceilings, and it’s easy enough to fan out of a room if it starts to build up.

dumb question: are you editing with Adobe? My scans keeps going to Notepad. I never renewed my Microsoft word, but I guess now I have to?
@StevenSchultz
@StevenSchultz 2 ай бұрын
Hi Jessica! Not a dumb question at all! Yes, I edit everything in Adobe. I use Lightroom specifically for editing the Polaroid scans. I can’t speak to Microsoft, but with the software used with the scanner, you can select the specific folder that you’d like the scans to be exported to!

Did the auto focus work under water?
@StevenSchultz
@StevenSchultz 2 ай бұрын
Hi Elise! The autofocus does not work underwater; that’s why Nikon added the zone focus dial on the top of the camera. You have to estimate the distance between you and your subject, and select the corresponding distance on the zone focus dial. It’s a little tricky at first, but easy to get the hang of!

When you finish your roll and go to unwind the camera do you just switch the unwind lever and it unwinds the film automatically? I’m having a hard time unwinding my film

You really need to be using CrystalDisc mark to test drive speeds, It will simplify what people are seeing for themselves and show the true read and write speeds rather that just transfer time.

I have both EF50/1.2 and RF50/1.2. At a very begining (and because experience with EF lens) I was affraid to shoot at f/1.2. What a surprise. This lens is awesome at f/1.2! Detailed, sharp and focus is where is supposed to be. Class above EF 50/1.2. It’s my favorite lens for R5. Highly recommend

Some weird points in this video, but overall good. Like, I am paraphrasing, "I'm looking into a different camera system for casual shooting because this lens is so heavy", I mean there's the RF 50 f/1.8 for casual shooting, or RF 28 f/2.8, you said yourself that f/1.2 is not for the causal shooter. Canon R5 with these lenses is not meaningfully larger than the XPro-3. If you were to go for size, I'd look into X-S20, for more modern capabilities in a small package. I have gone in the opposite direction, sold my Fuji kit, abandoned the "middle ground" and settled at the extremes, full frame Canon R5 kit on one end and Ricoh GR III for "casual" shooting at the other. That difference in size is VERY meaningful.

I was looking for a review on this scanner for scanning polaroids and yours was the first to pop up. I nearly jumped out of my seat halfway through the video when I realized that the polaroid on your screen was of the GianCarlo I knew! I worked on set with him on a short film in Buffalo only a few months ago, probably no longer than two months after you posted this video. I thought I was going crazy looking at the thumbnail in the corner until you mentioned his name. Small world I suppose! Great video, I will definitely look more into this scanner. Cheers!
