One thing I forgot to note in the video: there's a lot of expensive gear in here that I talk about very casually, and that's due in part to the 7 years of time, energy, and money I have invested in my business. I've also benefitted enormously from the generosity of friends gifting me or giving me incredible deals on these tools. You DO NOT need this level of gear if you're just starting out. Make images with whatever tools you have at your disposal, spend your time learning & practicing, and the rest will follow. Context is king. Thanks for being here

Can't wait to see the Pentax 6x7 video. It's grown to become my favourite camera that I own. It's slow to use and hard to focus in low light but it produces some ridiculous results at times which makes it all worth it for me.

I can't wait to make that one. It really feels like a magical piece of gear!

I have the same flash! I love it so far too, but have limited experience with all the technicalities behind it. Using the TTL/manual toggle is all I've really experimented with it so far but would love to see a tutorial video or something along those lines on how you use that flash too Steven!

Oh let's go!! Team Profoto, haha! I've actually been working on a script for a video about this flash, so it's really affirming to hear you say that. Hope to make that before the end of the year, thanks for watching!!

Great video! And happy that you are back making vids :) Question, when do you the R5 and when the Mamiya? Since they have similar focal lengths? Is 50mm or 70mm tight enough on a wedding day? Thanks man! You are a big inspiration
@StevenSchultz Жыл бұрын
Thanks so much, Lex! Feels good to be back! :) I forgot to mention that I occasionally use a 45mm (28 FF equivalent) on my Mamiya, which is usually when I have the RF 50mm on my R5. I'll usually switch to the 80mm on my Mamiya when I use the RF 24-70 on my R5, just to keep things balanced. But also, 50mm is my favorite focal length, so I'm not opposed to having two cameras with similar focal lengths :) And personally, 70mm is the tightest focal length I ever need! I'm usually right in the action and like to be close to everything. Appreciate you!!

How are you navigating the day without a longer focal length? I can’t imagine leaving my 70-200 in the bag… 🙃
@StevenSchultz Жыл бұрын
Great question! For my shooting style, I prefer to be closer to the action, so I can afford to not have anything past 70mm. I LOVE the RF 70-200 and plan on adding that to my kit eventually, but not because I need it for weddings. To each their own, though!! You should shoot in whatever way feels best to you. Thanks for watching, Joe! :)
