Proving once again if you need steps on the boat, ( Tuff and Velocity have none)you’ve got a poorly designed hull for speed. Absolutely beautiful stuff! Thanks for sharing.

In flat conditions this might be true. But in offshore racing boats, another story. Steps helps reducing the wetted surface and maintaining higher speed in open sea conditions, the hull wil be better "planted" in the water. The Phantom 19 was a rather successful offshore hull in Europe. 20 years later the added steps( usual retrofitted does not work but in this case it did) and it still improved a lot.

@@joeordinary209 on the straightaways I agree but in tight corner you give up some bite. I’ve never seen a step bottom boat that can turn like my velocity. No blow out at speed.

What a great running boat. I wonder with today's new outboards for comparison a 90 Yamaha weighs 353 lbs a new Mercury Pro xs 115 weighs just 6 pounds more . Could you build one with the 115 and what do you think it will run . Mid to upper 60s? That would be a fun little boat for the lower keys to run back and forth to the sand bars and bars

With a 40hp mercury they advertise a 42 mph top speed. 4 docks over from us my neighbor has one he put a Yamaha 90hp vmax sho on. The thing walked past me and I was running 55ish mph. These things seem like a ton of fun.

Curious what speed this video was taken at ? I have a guess ....I am guessing this boat is not completely wide open for most of the video ....I was thinking it's running 75-80 in the video and capable of 90+ if set up right (I could be way off , please correct me if wrong

This boat does 94 mph with a 250 hp and 106 mph with a 300 hp. That's according to the manufacturer.
