@@themechanic8986 Plug and play for me, but it depends on the wheel. Spoke profile, pad height, lots of factors when it comes to wheels. My street setup (275 R888R) does pretty well on the street with a moderate boost-by-gear strategy.

I own 2002 IS300 in blue with manual tranny and love this beautiful villain. It is my daily ride too and step by step I am makin it very personal. It was / is a thrill drive every time - doin mods, maintenance and upgrades to unleash more of its charm and potential. Natural high kind of ride each and every time I take this bad boy for a drive, do not want stop, the spell is strong, 1st gen IS fanatics know. Silly cats over the years tried to convince me to quit and sell when it needed repairs that my wallet could not afford to beat, money honey been a challenge - bitter and uneasy, but I did not give up, it was just a matter of effort and time - fixed, revived and brought it back to Life, not sellin my dream ride, I do not regret, would be a fool if I did that. The reward is sweet - drives like charm - purrin on the lights, roarin through the streets, king of the roads that is not to be messed with. Years on and the choice to keep this beast in the past, made me realize - it is a future classic now which in manual tranny is rare and hard to find, what I sloppy fool I could have been if I sold it for chump change to some lucky cat, I would regret it now, no doubts about that. Fun fact - my fave colour has always been and still is blue so I brainstormed one day and blessed my IS with a special name that I feel really fits. Short and sweet, I call it - Blue Beast. Braza, I can feel and appreciate the love and passion for your beautiful first generation IS that truly is a unique one of a kind blue beast that you nurtured, raised, built, empowered and its wild character unleashed. And this beautiful video illustrates exactly that. Bad ass and mean, fabulous and clean, powerful and smokin hot! Thoughtful and loyal, devoted and genuine, irresistible and contagious style and vibe. Will watch your other videos and pay close attention to learn more. Thank you for your good taste, persistent effort and impressive work accomplished.

Is this peak RPM of the turbo (117,000rpm)? Or are there other limiting factors?
@twojay
@twojay 4 ай бұрын
No wheel speed sensor installed, but according to the Matchbot it's probably somewhere up there. It's definitely happiest in the 25-28 PSI range on my particular setup.
@s4060
@s4060 4 ай бұрын
@@twojay total guess on my behalf but I would summise your emap is huge after 27psi. Might be the exhaust restriction. Seems to jump up a similar amount until you get to 30psi... hp gains take a nose dive after 6000rpm @30psi, showing a restriction (and to me the likely thing is exhaust). Just to clarify, your car sounds amazing, i wouldnt change the exhaust.
@twojay
@twojay 4 ай бұрын
@@s4060 Exhaust manifold (drive) pressure is in the 40-42 PSI range at 30 PSI boost, so yeah the turbo is definitely a little bit upside-down at that point for sure (it's more like 35 PSI drive at 27-28 PSI boost). Nothing too drastic, but could certainly be contributing to the power not being quite as linear at the higher boost levels. I imagine a larger A/R exhaust housing may help alleviate this, but I really enjoy the response of the current setup.
@s4060
@s4060 4 ай бұрын
@@twojay Thanks for the reply. Very interesting data. The 1.45 is the next housing, kills response altogether. I won’t be using it. I will be using the Emtron (my ECU) to maintain max shaft speed instead of target boost on the Z axis up the mid and top of the rev range.

Beautiful IS. Just sold my 535whp 92 galant vr4 and picked up a stock 05 is. Going to build it this summer. I'm just in Salt Lake. Slip that clutch more off the line. Less likely to smoke the tire and won't bog down so bad. You land a great launch and I bet your get 9's or very low 10's.
@twojay
@twojay 7 ай бұрын
Yeah it would have been nice to have a few more runs that day to get things dialed in, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. Starting from scratch with tire pressures, damper settings, and launch RPM/boost was tricky but overall I'm pretty satisfied with how things went. These multi-disk carbon clutches can be tricky to slip as well. A slipper valve would probably be a good investment if I was planning to hit the track more often. Congrats on the IS acquisition and best of luck with the build!

Not bad for a grocery getter, blowing the doors off six-figure supercars. I would pay money to time travel with that car and knock the socks off the Japanese engineers that sketched out the Altezza design on paper 25 years ago. Side note, it's absolutely ridiculous that the design is that old. Still looks modern.
