George's lyric is genius. But when you apply Adam's relationship baggage to this...the emotion is a beautiful but heart wrenching song that brings me to tears every time.

Randomly found a cover of this song and fell in love with it. Imagine my surprise when a little googling reveals my favorite band also has a cover of the exact same song!

Since they always omit it live, I will sing it for you, “ I will walk along these hillsides in the summer ‘neath the sunshine I am feathered by the moonlight falling down on me”

Adam has said the reason he never plays this or will ever release it is he wrote it to a chord progression Courtney Cox was playing around with and he never wants to give her credit for anything 😅😂

Such a painful story behind this John Haitt song. This is a great cover. The boys treat it with the respect it deserves. I love Counting Crows unique talent and sound.

So good. Not easy to make a song like this (Duritz’s imprint) and make it your own, and pull it off. Well done sir and thank you.

I'm from the same town where Adam and Dave grew up and I know Dave. I played a gig with a band that was on the same bill with Model Society. They had quite a following and had the club packed with several hundred people. This was in the fall of 1987.

This version came on the radio at work. One of my exes from long ago adored Counting Crows. Thought about her a lot lately. Hope you’re doing well in life, D.

This sounds great. That said I'm surprised to say that I prefer both George Jones version and Elvis Costello's version..Which I find odd because I prefer Counting Crow's as a band. The only thing that bugs me on Adam's version is the way he's so often out of the chord in his vocal. His emotional delivery comes at the expense of the harmony of the song. If I'd never heard the other's I'd love this. This is good but I hear the original as it plays.
