😂😂😂 dude, i was changing some brakes that take shoe kind. The 1/2 springs missing, that little gear in the back half eaten, and those 2 little points that hold the shoes in place GONE. Nothing but rust came out of the drum. I even replaced the drum. Had a good engine, nothing busted, everything was good even the body. But as for the drums that was in dire need of replacing.

It's crazy how bad some cars get. The older Santa Fe had the rear control arms recalled because they would rust away and your wheel would shoot out to the side.

Vac out all the coolant with a catch can or the gasket faces will be contaminated and never reseal.

Tilting also works. If you want it all out then tilt the other way, it's a metal gasket on this guy so I don't think coolant will contaminate it.

Thanks for the help, the left side was a pain until I remembered the old trick of using some string to hold the bolts and gasket in place. One wrap around each bolt and then to the other side of the head. You can tie the bolts and gasket in place with the bolt heads even with the rockers so it takes less room. It slides in so easy this way but you need to use a hook scribe to pull out the string because it tends to get caught. But it's so much faster and easier than trying to keep it all together and with all 6 bolts and gasket.

We had the 2002 2.5 Impreza what's the nightmare. Timing belt broke after the dealership failed to advise. Spent $3500 plus the clutch. The mechanic couldn't fix it right had oil in the coolant. Brought it back and he redid it but it overheated often. Add another mechanic look at it you screwed it up in the timing belt broke again. Maybe we shouldn't have paid those mechanics.
@TheCraftyTech
@TheCraftyTech 3 ай бұрын
yeah timing belt failure is usually the bottom idler pully letting go, its impossible to know if its bad unless its making noise or you take the timing components apart. That being said I don't think subarus are reliable unless you have all these things under control. Being a mechanic yourself is a big plus when owning a subaru. I take apart the engine on every subaru i buy and just do the head gaskets and clean the piston ring lands as a first step to owning one.very reliable cars if you teardown the engine when you buy it lol

@TheCraftyTech
@TheCraftyTech 4 ай бұрын
I think you're going to get a different answer from everybody you ask this question too. Bottom line is it's a registerable motorcycle for off-road use. The only difference is it doesn't burn gas. I know people who have been riding on the road for 3 years almost every day in Calgary and got stopped multiple times with no tickets at all. But if the cop is having a bad day he can give you a ticket for no registration and insurance then impound the bike and the tickets for that can easily exceed $4,000 and possibly go on your record increasing the cost of insurance in the future on any vehicle you get insurance on.

I just know that the car side is a lot stronger than that spacer. And a lot of cases you have to commit to destroying the spacer and I just went to the local junkyard and grabbed another one. You need to keep the frame fairly square with the vehicle so you're not pulling it out while it's twisted if you know what I mean. This one fought me for a day or two. But when I finally got the right tool with the air hammer and chisel bit I was able to get it in there and wedge it apart.
@ahhason
@ahhason 4 ай бұрын
@@TheCraftyTech yea I’m hoping it works cause I’m losing my head on it. I’ve been air hammering for about 2 hours before I decided to just soak it. My other idea is to just grind down the inner sleeve on four corners from the bottom to accept an 1/2” extension and blast it free with a heavy impact gun

Try using amps. Pull ground off battery connect meter to battery negative and battery ground cable. Disconnect 1 fuse at a time until amps drop

Oh yeah that's how I found the draw, I use a test light between negitive terminal and battery negitive. Interior fuse panel fuse had a draw then i tested all fuses inside and it was gone, but then I jiggled the key and found that I could remove it and the light could stay on if I wasent careful, then I parked it for two days and the battery was still fully charged,
