What is the best thermal clip on w nv set up? Should I just go straight thermal? I'm looking to get into nv/thermal so I'm a noob, but want a great shtf set up, I'll use sometimes for hunting, but mainly to practice shooting in dark.

I'd imagine a big enough difference is that you know the GPNVG has gone through rigorous testing to do what it claims to do in terms of durability and exposure to elements etc, also longevity, however, 99.9% of the people who would be considering buying the APNVGs will not actually come across any of these conditions or actually have the repetition where such things would even matter...
@customnightvision8 күн бұрын
well the GPNVG doesnt have the best track record in regards to durability but ive beat up both.

They had a R44 running without a pilot on the controls... That is incrediblyyy stupid 🤣 in a list of things to never do, that's right up with heroin and carrying around a 1911 with the safety off in a bag full of AAA batteries and going for a jog with it. Do not trust that "pilot" with your life again haha -a CFI

@@customnightvision Not about cool.. That shit is reckless, dangerous, and negligent. All it takes is a gust, pedals to move, or frictions loosen/fail and that machine kills someone. It's happened many times before with dudes doing the exact same thing. Do you say the same thing to firearms instructors when they say to use a safety? That's like muzzling your friends with a loaded gun and then attempting to mock the guy that says you should never do that.

Manual gain is cool if you have time to fiddle with it and your surroundings aren't changing constantly but it's not all sunshine and rainbows.. For active situations, settings that change lighting often, someone who isn't practiced in adjusting it quickly, settings where readiness is important, you want the tube to adjust by itself. It's great for observation and non critical activities but if you turn that thing up or down it's going to stay there until you have time to mess with it and you may need your hands... The ideal device would have both settings but correct me if I'm wrong, currently devices with manual gain don't have auto modes.

There is a level of ABC even in manual gain devices.
