Hello! How do you avoid flickering lights with 30 or 60 fps?
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo7 күн бұрын
Hey! Not really sure, unless you are using a third party app to control the shutter speed (like filmic pro) or if you have the option to turn the light off sometimes I’ll just do that.
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo7 күн бұрын
Here’s a video I did on using that app, the only difference is if you notice flickering you can just change the shutter speed up or down one setting (from 1/50 to 1/60 etc) until you notice it stops. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bnisoYWdg9mris0

Why use a gimbal on the BMPCC cameras? Why not use the gyro stabilizer in Resolve? It works really well I think.

Have you tried it for longer camera movements? I’d imagine it might come out weird or if you go through a doorway stabilizers can get funky. I’m curious though!

What I would like to see is a video showing this technique where the interior of the homes has high contrasting paint schemes, dark furniture against walls that are green or blue, or century homes where the walls aren't exactly straight.

@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo22 күн бұрын
Not a ton but yes! I think I generally exposed a little bit to the right of center on the histogram. Main thing is to keep the iso at 640 or 12,800 (might be 800 for the low base but I can’t remember) for the cleanest shots! For interiors you just have to prioritize the interior exposure and sometimes you can get the window views but sometimes you can’t.

Great information! I love how honest you are about the gear and not push for the newest expensive equipment. I really like the Brevite camera bag and the color is amazing also. I'm currently using Endurax large since 2021 and its time to change the bag. (zipper is worn out and the interior straps velcro no longer grips...lol) I go through bags like water though. I am all about that soft filter and polarizer...so thank you for talking about those. I have all DJI gimbals (RSC2 with raven eye) (OM4 for the phone) but I need to upgrade the phone gimbal cause this one annoys me when using the zoom in/out. it does a horrible jump. I have been looking at that DJI audio and I agree with you. That kit is great. I have the RODElink wireless filmmaker kit ...however, I really like how the DJI mic2 seems to be all in ONE ...ha! you are amazing with the information you share. Thank you for taking time to help others learn and grow. Too many people get competitive and refuse to share knowledge these days. I have been behind cameras shooting and editing images for 27+ years and I love coming across a soul like yours. You kind of remind me of Nathan Cool and I adore him. I'm looking forward to seeing more videos from you. Have a groovy day!

A big problem with shooting at any framerate is LED light flicker with higher shutter speeds. Once you start going past 1/50th, you start getting light flicker due to the AC cycles at 60Hz. What no one talks about is how to avoid that. Sure, you can turn off the lights, but from experience, when you deal with interior lighting, you'd have to shoot 30fps with 1/50th shutter. Technically, that is the simplest solution. Yes, 60fps is the most versatile but it only works when you don't use interior lighting.
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideoАй бұрын
Good points! I usually crank up the shutter speed (a little faster) for flickering. Have you had any issues going slower than 180 shutter rule?
@matrixateАй бұрын
@@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo I think you mean, you slow down the shutter for flicker. Usually slower than twice the framerate isn't the issue, it's going faster that is because of the lack of motion blur. But no, I've never had an issue going slower on the shutter speed. Going too slow makes the video look like a bad trip. Lol. The main advantage of the slower shutter is the improvement in light exposure; you can lower your ISO or close up your aperture to get more of the scene in focus.
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideoАй бұрын
@@matrixate Nope, I speed it up usually just a little bit and check to see if it plays back looking good. Guess it works both ways (which makes sense)! I always thought it was due to the frequency of the electricity/light so changing the shutter speed makes it not catch the light as it flickers quicker than our eyes can see.

@TaylorBrownPhotoVideoАй бұрын
Yeah it's the whole struggle. What camera and lenses do you have? It's tough with anything except the a7s3 or fx3 and/or a 2.8 lens if there's not much light.

I do virtual tours with my Insta360 X3 and Matterport. It gets the job done, but I always encounter at least one of these issues each time, which is extremely frustrating: 1. Overheating after 1.5 hours of use. The camera disconnects and freezes for several minutes. 2. Sometimes, when I go outside, electromagnetic interference cuts the Wi-Fi connection, and it’s impossible to establish communication between the phone and the Insta360 X3 until I bring the camera and the phone back inside the building. 3. The camera glitches when I spend too much time in the sun (overheating). I'm linving in French West Indies in a tropical island. 4. On the Matterport app, I noticed a difference in light exposure measurement or in the color cast between the left and right lenses. As a result, in a 360-degree space, one half is slightly darker while the other is properly exposed. This exposure difference does not exist when you us the "Insta360" mobile app. I’ve also noticed the same issue with the Insta360 X2, but the difference is less pronounced. Fortunately, most of the time, my clients don't notice it. You will see a sample here : www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/gd7l7w7kg98t85fsif5d3/Screenshot_20240727_091455_Matterport.jpg?rlkey=88ahi6t69sk1s0h15iver99bd&dl=0 5. I have to connect the camera to a external USB power bank to finish big virtual tours more than 100 m² is equivalent to approximately 1,076.39 square feet. (but this is not a problem actually, I think it's normal) 6. When I step out of an air-conditioned building to shoot outside, condensation forms on the lenses, and it’s impossible to clean them inside. I have to wait... You might say, "it’s the same for all cameras."
