That crappy $45 flash has been one of my favorites…and I’ve used a lot of flashes/strobes. Throw a Gary Fong sphere on there, match your flash power with your cameras ISO, put it at f4, adjust shutter speed accordingly, point your flash up, and fire away! ❤

That's a good video showing an alternative to some of the other popular videos I've watched. I notice that for the flash shot you had your shutter at 1/40 to bring in the ambient light into the flash shot before blending with the HDR shot. I've watched videos from other photographers where they put the shutter on HSS of 1/250 or above to deliberately exclude all ambient light from the shot, so the shot is 100% flash and no ambient, before blending in Lightroom. Do you think there are any pro's and con's of one method over the other?

Excellent! Hopefully PS is not needed in most of the times

What do you do about stutters when filming b-roll at 30 for a 24 timeline? You don't film any pans or what?
@maxhighstein8 күн бұрын
This is great! What puzzles me though is that if I know I'll be slowing down footage in the edit, it seems like it would be really difficult to figure out how to adjust my camera movements with that in mind. Do you just shoot as if what you're monitoring is the speed of movement you want, and then find it's better once you slow it down, or do you intentionally go some kind of calculation faster, to try to anticipate how you're going to slow it down?
@billt30318 күн бұрын
What aperture do you use? My lens goes down to f4.0 but if it looses the focus, everyhting gets blurry. I'm thinking of shooting with f8.0+. What do you think?

Sorry but I think there is no information about it in the video - but you cn use Matterport only in very light places. There is no possibility to edit photos. JUst what your camera will capture
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo11 күн бұрын
I haven't tried it in dark rooms but I'd assume it would just do longer shutter speed and look pretty decent with its auto editing software. The bedrooms in this video weren't very bright so that might be a good example.
@cczarnyy11 күн бұрын
@@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo Unfortunately not - at least not for X3 (I'm using only this camera). And this has been confirmed by Matterport support. If you have darker room there is no way within camera or matterport app to enhance the foto in any way. And these bedroom were bright as star in comparison with some European houses in which I worked in :)
@BurlapandLight17 күн бұрын
So do you still continue to film in 30FPS or have you moved onto using 60FPS?
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo11 күн бұрын
Good question - Mostly 60fps unless it's a dark room then I'll switch over to 30 or 24. I've done some shoots lately on 48fps and that worked great too but it's only an option on cinema cameras usually. Good in-between!
@willdorak98517 күн бұрын
So you are moving your flash around the room and you can trigger the shot remotly with your flash? Are using 2 flashes (on attached to the camera, and the other that you hold in your hand)?. Can you explain?
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo11 күн бұрын
The camera has a trigger on it and I used a 10 second or 2 second self timer (triggered by pushing the shutter on the camera) and just went around to the spot after that. Would be better to have a remote trigger so you don't have any micro-movements when you push the button though!
@willdorak98511 күн бұрын
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo Awesome :-)
@NashvilleLife17 күн бұрын
Would you recommend doing cinematic for the close up shots or 2x 4k 60 fps
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo11 күн бұрын
Sure if it looks good! Only downside is if the fake bokeh looks weird and you're not able to change it. I haven't used it much but maybe you can change it afterward like in photos ?
@GoodLifeInSpain17 күн бұрын
European videographers...consider shooting at 25 & 50 fps. Because most of Europe runs on 220V (which in some countries can fluctuate between 220-240), LED bulbs flicker like crazy at 30fps which renders most footage unusable.
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo11 күн бұрын
Great tip! I had to do that while filming an event in Portugal recently :)

where did you get your stabilizer arm for your second hand on your gimble?
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo18 күн бұрын
It came with the RS3 Pro package when I bought it. I have seen other aftermarket ones though, from brands like SmallRig so you can probably find one that works with your gimbal there.

@ thanks for getting back to me Taylor I have tried some test footage at home using my Sony Fx30 and Sony 11mm lens which is a 16.5mm equivalent. I am encountering a lot of noise even though I am over exposing according to the meter between 1.7 and 2 stops. It’s mainly on dark walls even though I am filming at 2500 its second native ISO. What do you think? I’m trying to keep the iso at its first or second native setting. Thanks Glenn
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo24 күн бұрын
@ArcMediaFilms I would just run some tests at different ISOs and see what’s the most usable and try to stick to those while filming. Might also just need to bring the shadows down some depending on how you have it graded.
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo24 күн бұрын
@ArcMediaFilms also filming at slower frame rates like 24 or 30 help since you can usually use a lower ISO and just do your camera movement slower. (If you’re filming at 60+)
@ArcMediaFilms22 күн бұрын
Hi Taylor thanks I will definitely do that!

at f2.8 are you racking focus a lot?
@TaylorBrownPhotoVideo11 күн бұрын
Not really, with wide shots it keeps most of it looking pretty in-focus.
