This is almost EXACTLY the same as doing a Nissan Patrol, but everything is bigger and more robust on the Patrol (and a broken diff/shaft etc is basically unheard of)

Only Defender owners know the joys and challenges BUT thats why we keep doing it :) Im an Aissie with a 110 who lives in Arctic Sweden who drove to lower Germany and am building out my camper ... Summer time will be first solo adventures around EU and eventually UK! Been watching a while but first comment!!

@@christopherastbury-mg2iz I mostly used 55x7 mm, but on the edge where the curve is, I used 45x7 mm. You could go even smaller at the curve to create a more round edge. The challenge is to find slats that are perfectly straight 😅

That's the exact repair I'm doing right now and the same side. In actuality, I'm replacing the wheel bearings, but one of the caliper bolts is seized and I can't get it out! Good job on adapting. I was laughing about traveling with a trailer or second Defender for all the spare parts. I have had that conversation a ton. 😂😂

Either the bolt is gone, or it's completely seized. Hate both 😜 Yes, I increasingly wonder how much point it makes to take spare parts with me. Anyhow... Cheers to the adventure of DIY repairs!!

this is very recognizable to us! We have both a Peugeot Boxer (the same type as the Fiat) and a Defender 110. When I recently started driving our Peugeot again for the first time, we first experienced the differences for 10 minutes with laughter. how big is the inside of the Peugeot and what a showcase the windscreen is. unbelievable what a difference. we immediately recognized ourselves in your response (laughing)

Hi Thomas, I love the Defender as well! I heard all the stories about 'breakdowns', problems, and whatever, but it's a car. Car's break down 😂 It's still weird that this bolt disappeared, though! Safe and fun travels to you too man!!

Lucky you caught this before something worse happened. How that bolt can loosen is very strange. Now that's is fixed, let's move on to your next adventure in Italy.

Normally, I play my music REALLY loudly; this time, I didn't, so I noticed the weird sound. And yes.. It's weird this bolt came loose. 10000% sure I tightened it when I installed the brake caliper 🤔
