very interesting ideas, I will buy many of these, they are so helpful ;3 But what do you recommend then in the end: uberstax with everything on it, or cards on the table with dices and tokens on top of them? I am not sure how you put resouces on uberstax? Are you actully using different colors for different resources colors or just one for all of them?
@TheGameLocker8 күн бұрын
Hi there! I recommend a sort of hybrid - I usually put my hand and the staging area on the Uberstax, and all the cards I play on the table (heroes, allies, attachments). If you don't use many ally attachments then you can use the Uberstax for all of your in-play allies; you can fit wooden cubes (to mark exhausting) and dice for damage counters (or even the actual damage counters) on the Uberstax, so that still works too. Also, I only use one color for resources. Since resources go on your heroes, you always know what "color" the resources are. Hope that helps!

Hi there again, great video, watched couple of time, this doesnt solve my question of "if for example, an attachment like Steward of Gondor attached to Aragorn carries on or not from mission to mission, like from "Passage Through Mirkwood" to "Journey Along the Anduin" and finally to "Escape from Dol Guldur"...
@TheGameLocker26 күн бұрын
Oh oh, yes I see your question now. The answer is no, all standard attachments always go away back into your player deck between missions, even for a campaign (unless a campaign card effect tells you otherwise). Boons and Burdens are the cards that can act differently in a campaign setting. Also damage counters and threat level normally reset between quests in a campaign as well, unless you're playing an Expert campaign where damage is persistent. Hope that helps!

Hello there! Great videos, I'm jsut get into this game recently, I got the revised core box, having so much fun, and your videos are super useful, you really explain it very well. I have one question, if you can please awnser it, would be great, in campaing mode, the attachments to the heroes, are keep to one scenerio to another o everything is "reseted" ? I played the 3 scenarios in campaing mode, keeping attachments on heroes, threat level and damage on heroes, third was really hard but keeping the attachments was very helpfull, I'm doing it right? Thanks! Cheers! ✌✌

Thanks for watching! In Part 2 of my How To Play series I cover the rules for campaign mode, if you haven't seen that yet I would start there, then read the rulebook on that section to get clarity. There are specific rules around the cards you "earn" throughout the campaign and add to your "campaign pool", so definitely pay attention to those, especially the ones that have the "permanent" keyword. Hope that helps!

Would these decks make playing the revised core set quests too easy? I enjoy a challenge and dont want to get these just to barrel through the content with little to no friction
@TheGameLocker29 күн бұрын
The first quest - definitely. The second quest - maybe. The third quest - not necessarily. I would say the best way to start this game is with the core set + Dark of Mirkwood to have a 5-quest mini campaign that's really great for learning the game. There are plenty of decks you can build out of the core set that will help you learn the game and that you'll have a good time with! As soon as you move on to another campaign or want more deck/player card variety, go for the starter decks. They're fantastic.
@ArcanoSilverwind29 күн бұрын
@TheGameLocker thank you very much. I figured start decks were meant to start the core set with but then I saw people speaking on how strong they were, and that made me worry about steamrolling any challenges in the core set

Is fabtasy flight games still printing the material so that expansions are easily found? I know the "living" aspect of the game is over, but will it still be sold in 5 or 10 years? How much of a rush should one be in to collect the non-out of print stuff?
@TheGameLockerАй бұрын
That's the million-dollar question :). Personally, I don't see a need to rush after the revised/repackaged content that's been released over the past few years (everything released after the revised core set). The whole reason they revised/repackaged this game is to set it up to remain an "evergreen" game that can be reprinted for a while, because historically it has sold well. My advice is don't buy all the expansions until you are sure that you want to invest in a game like this - a "lifestyle" game that you can sink hundreds of hours into, basically a hobby within the hobby. Until you know you love it, just start with the revised core set and the Dark of Mirkwood pack, and play through that whole 5-quest mini campaign and experiment with different deck builds out of the core set. If you are loving the process of building different decks to overcome different challenges, and you like the difficulty of the game, then dive in to a degree that your free time and budget allow :). Hope that helps!

I bought these decks for my wife and son for when they want to play with me. They became familiar enough with the main deck they each play to customize it (using the extra cards in the packs) for specific scenarios. Deckbuilding is much less difficult and stressful for them when they have a limited number of cards to choose from and 82 cards is a good, manageable number.
@oxnumbernineАй бұрын
I forgot to add. I restrict my own decks to cards that were available when a specific scenario was released and hence these starter decks don't work for me personally.

Hi great video. However, you make a mistake at 38:00 when saying Draco receive the discovery tile. Draco would only receive the discovery tile if the attacker had no ships remaining in the sector at the end of the combat phase. This would be rare and require something like all the attackers remaining ships to be destroyed through rift cannons backfire.

I play MTG, is the active window timing similar to playing instants?
@TheGameLocker2 ай бұрын
I don't play MTG, so sadly I can't really answer that question :). Action windows are pretty straightforward, because if two players both want to play an action in an action window, the players just decide what should go first, and the first player casts the deciding vote if needed. For other effects like responses, constant abilities, and forced effects, I explain the correct order of resolution in my videos (parts 2 and 3). Hope that helps!

Do you have to pick up each to play the expansions? Thanks for your time, take care!
@TheGameLocker3 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching! For the Hero & Campaign boxes, you can choose to buy them separately no problem. Simply put, the Hero box gives you a ton of new player cards to build decks with, and the Campaign box gives you 9 new quests. Sometimes the player cards in the associated Hero box will help you in the Quests of that campaign, but at the very least the player cards will be tied together thematically to that campaign. Hope that helps!

When Gandalf enters play. (46:00).. does the word "deal" bypass defense or is it because you played the card during the action window... thanks in advance.. and great video!
@TheGameLocker3 ай бұрын
Hi! It's not necessarily the word "deal", it's more just the concept of direct damage. Generally speaking there are two ways to damage enemies - by making an attack against that enemy (the standard way or through a card effect like Quick Strike), and dealing direct damage (e.g. Gandalf's card effect). If a card effect describes dealing damage to an enemy, and makes no mention about attacking the enemy or enemy defense, then you can assume it is "direct damage" and it will bypass enemy defense. Hope that helps!
