The one little house on the prairie I didn't like is when Alice and Mary and Adam's baby parished in the fire at the blind school where Albert and his friend stole that old man's pipe and took down in the basement I felt so sorry for Mary when she was staying at the restaurant and she started to scream my baby my baby and Adam told her died in the fire and she said to him your lying and should broke the glass and cut her hand then Laura ran upstairs and held Mary and told Nellie get Dr baker😢

Very very cool. I love these type of videos. You should've found a swaybacked horse to ride around. Of course, those types of horses probably don't exist anymore because people who own horses and raise horses euthanize them at birth or before. Maybe in Mexico you can still find a few.

I am searching for an episode from an old western such as Bonanza or The Lone Ranger when they filmed there. I would like to show the ranch and make it about what was filmed there, rather than make it about the Manson family. I would like to show the positive side of Spahn Ranch as a TV western set.

@jokeroneninesevenzero13 күн бұрын
You're welcome. In a straight line, the Pacific Palisades fire is about 30 miles away. That fire is next to the Pacific Ocean. Thousand Oaks is inland and in no danger of that particular fire. But when we have high winds we are prone to a fire starting anywhere in Southern California.

@jokeroneninesevenzero Right on! I liked your video. That was very interesting. Makes me wonder what places I have traveled through that might have been used in a show or a movie location. I saw a video on the movie "Duel" of the locations it was filmed at then and now. Also the movie "Dirty Mary Cr*zy Larry" I saw a location then and now on both those films too that was interesting. Gunsmoke is a good show. James Arness really made the show. I liked watching him in the mini series "How the West Was Won" too.

Ive also read that at some point when James Arness's contract came up for renewal he wanted a big raise. They would give it to him at the expense of cutting the salary of other cast members and hiring lesser know talent. In exchange for a smaller raise he got them to finance a ranch interest free that he wanted to buy. At a latter contract renewal...same story........this time he got them to write off what he still owed on the ranch. Both times they agreed. "They" as in the studio.

The 30 minutes B&W episodes are by far the best. The color hour episodes are the worst. Anymore I do not even watch the color episodes at all. Ive read where they went to hour long episodes because that was the trend, like Bonanza. Also that at least the first season of hour long episodes were really padded out 30 minute scripts as hour long scripts were not ready.
@jamesmassey-cc4ml27 күн бұрын
In one later color episode there were scenes showing Vasquez rocks outside Palmdale Ca. I said jokingly ‘ wow those Kansas farmers did a really good job leveling those mountains and moving those rocks so they could plow those fields!!!’😂😂😂😂😂

Thanks for sharing this. I was born in the mid 50s in Thousand Oaks. My Uncle Jack Braden was the ranch foreman for the largest ranch in the Conejo Valley at the time. It was the Albertson Ranch (previously known as the Russell Ranch). It stretched from the western edge of Agoura to the Thousand Oaks townsite limits (before cityhood) and north to Skelton Canyon and south to Lake Sherwood. The majority of the land would become the car dealerships, Hampshire Road business district and of course North Ranch and Westlake Village. My Uncle Jack was a real cowboy as was my Cousin Rick Braden (both deceased). They played extras in the movies but more importantly, my Uncle's cattle were used in virtually all of the western TV shows and movies of the 60's and 70's. One of the funniest movies shot in the North Ranch area of Westlake was Wood Allen's "Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Sex But Were Afraid To Ask". For sometime a giant abandon breast and bra (moving contraption) was left abandoned on the ranch on what would be Kanan Rd and Westlake Blvd area. As kids we spent countless hours watching them film and got to see and meet many stars. In my adult life I worked as a paramedic and worked too many shows and movies to recount that were shot in the Conejo Valley. The area you showed was more properly known as the Pedersen Ranch before it was the Janss Ranch. Janss Corporation bought it all up to build the housing tracts that are all Thousand Oaks as we know it. When I was a kid it was all wide open space and we would ride horses at "the big red barn" which was on Olsen Road near CLU stadium. That barn was a left over from the movie filming days and burned down in 1978. I helped put out that fire as a young reserve fireman. I have a large box full of dozens of photos from the area before all the houses. Progress often is not progress. Sadly. An era gone.
