How do you get that pace out of a silver can!? Is it modified or is this just a big battery and esc and hope it doesn’t catch fire?
@craziestmonkey2 ай бұрын
@thebandit1974 just a big battery and a little hope. The silver can class's only stipulations are that you use a basic silver can(no torque tune or the like) and push it as far as you can in any Tamiya chassis. Dave has the record at 62mph (I think that's his speed).

@@TheK20eg Finally on a computer. It kept giving me an error responding on my phone. Anyhow, I don't know anyone else running the larger motors aside from kainrc. It looks like he just bolted a regular mount up through the bottom of the chassis. I ended up "carving" mine from some aluminum with my rotary tool. It was only supposed to fit a 2030 but I accidentally made it a little big. To my surprise that meant the 2430 would fit. I'm working on making everything more easily repeatable. A lot of my prototypes are just hand made or cut. I picked up a second chassis to try to make some mods that will do a lot of the same but work better with the stock layout.

For tires it's running proline trenchers meant for a Slash. The 2/3 wheels allowed me to fill each wheel with automotive wheel weights and 20mm hex extenders. Also, it's got bearings throughout. It now has a 1/8th scale 1900kv brushless motor...

That’s dope. How durable is it? I’d only ever want to go slow with mine if I get one. Btw I’m surprised nobody’s tried to make an APC body for it. Like say, a chibi Stryker or Centauro even, inb4 it’s not an APC. Like with a turret and RC tank laser tag setup. There’s a blog called RC Sci-fi wherein he apparently took a 6x6 straight axle crawler and gave it a sci-fi exploration vehicle body with a delightful amount of detail too which is neat but a modern or presumably futuristic APC would have all independent suspension so here we are.

Using an overpowered servo along with all the weight of the truck I was finally able to break the steering center linkage. (The one that connects both sides and is shaped like a triangle). If you look in the fb groups for the Tamiya 6x6 you might see some of the styles you're looking for. I remember some neat polystyrene bodies being shared there.

@jonmandelbaum5395 I recently tested it while pulling my son in the wagon now that he's 100lbs. I broke something for the first time. It was the steering bracket that the servo connects to. The rig is heavy and we did some crawling with it after. It's got a stronger servo in there and just a servo horn with no servo saver. The rest has been really good. (Knock on wood)
