Did you put a check valve on the sump end?
@pokegeaks210 ай бұрын
Using the same die for different thicknesses will have suboptimal results given the spacing for inbetween the dies is the same in design but different for each plate thickness. The material could be just fine for the application you just haven't got the right spacing for a given plate thickness.

I have this same kit and got my engine builder to throw it on while he was putting it together(30/25 with neo head and AWD). Although there is no where to put that line to plumb it back in.. I'm gonna T it in to the turbo oil drain and hope for the best because it's the only option i have. Edit: Obviously with the engine out it made sense to install it but now i am wondering if i even needed it given it's NEO head and my RPM's are going to be kept under 7k.

I just bought a 300zx Z31 that had its fuel injection system swapped by a carb. Not sure if I should try to go back or embrace it.
@RJDMaskell Жыл бұрын
I can see the benefits in the injection for reliability but for me I would have to stick with carbs for the sound.

No worries man, so on my RBs13 I ended up going twin push electric fans as no mater what combo of viscous and fan I tried I couldn’t get the room.
@ChrisB200SX Жыл бұрын
Why did you modify the sump when you have a single turbo so there is a spare oil drain that would have been for the other turbo? I've always been skeptical about the CA18DET "oil drain issue" since it was first posited. The CA didn't really get extensive racing development like the RB back in the day but I presume the designs are largely similar and RB is a development of CA earlier (1985) design. Finally had a good look at a spare CA head yesterday, there are FOUR head drains. The CA18DET is canted over at 15° to the exhaust side, so really it's 3 drains on the exhaust side and 1 breather on the inlet, admittedly the rearmost drain could be bigger. There is another breather to the sump at the back of the inlet cam cover. I think the real issue might be excess blow-by trying to push return oil back up the drain holes!
@RJDMaskell Жыл бұрын
The engine is an RB25 with 26 cam covers so it only has the one oil drain from factory. I have fitted a few CA’s but never got involved in building them. It’s the one S/R chassis engine I don’t have much experience with.

The reason the finished plate is bowing, is the plastic is deforming on the final push. Hence why we use steel dimple dies. Metal to metal forms it flat.

Did you drill all the way thru? Or is there a specific depth you drill. But If so how do you seal the holes where the m6 bolts thread in so no oil leaks thru the bolts you just drilled in???
@RJDMaskell Жыл бұрын
Hi ya, yes drilled all the way through making sure to clear out the metal every few mm and then use it petroleum jelly on the bit as it went through to not let any metal in to the head. The bolts with some thread sealant are enough to seal it oil tight 👍

This video is refreshing to see, it gave me a reality check with all my project ideas 😅 I currently have an e46 that I’m doing drift mods on, but want to make more power next year. Simplest option is getting the motor fully built and turbocharging, remapping the stock ecu. Part of me wants a 2JZ or a V8, but not the PITA of doing a swap. Or I could buy a second car (SC300 or SC400) and build that, whilst drifting my E46. Either way I’m not gonna commit to an engine swap on my only drift car!
@RJDMaskell Жыл бұрын
For a starter car I would always say do the basic mods ( lock, seat, good handbrake ect) and then go have a good time. If you can’t drift 170hp then 500hp isn’t going to help.

I rewound the video trying to part where you talk about the coilovers and if those are aftermarket ones or not? If in fact you never did talk about it, do you recommend a good set of R34 25GT aftermarket shocks?
@RJDMaskell Жыл бұрын
I cover the coilovers a bit more in part 1 of the install. These are HSD coilovers, because the non turbo has a different rear suspension mounting from the R34 gtt the ones I have used are R33 gtst coilovers.
