It looks to be a nice place. I like to checkout the places you visit on the web, to see if they have public slipways for trailer sailer boats to launch. Your little walk through the town gives the heads up to see if they are worth visiting.

Something I do in hot weather is soak my baseball cap with freshwater the hat then keeps my head relatively cool. The hat being black won't help because black absorbs the heat. Did you get your fish and chips at the place you passed at 22:18

Hi guys great video. We followed the advice to keep the tip of the 7 meter obelisk stone situated in front or south of the lighthouse in the middle of the red section of the lighthouse. This ensures you are about the right distance from shore. Worked for us. Alternatively follow the 6 meter contour line. Love your posts, keep them coming. ATB Mark X

Hi to you both ⛵️ I’m looking to buy a boat at the moment & I have been considering getting a bilge keel myself. So having a bilge keel boat yourself have you found it to be much of an advantage when sailing around the UK so far as that will be my plan.
@sailinggemini
@sailinggemini 23 күн бұрын
Hi we definitely think having a bilge Keel has had its advantages going around the Uk you will see in up coming videos where the anchorages are busy and we squeeze to the front with only 1mt draft . But it just depends on what you want to do . If we decide to go out of Uk sailing next we would probably go for a full keel . Thanks for commenting and we wish you all the best what ever boat you end up with . 😊⛵️

@@sailinggeminiThanks for your reply. I’ve been looking at a Southerly as it does give you the best of both worlds with a swinging keel. I was sailing around the med a few years ago in a 50 foot boat for 5 months & it was a right pain at times trying to find somewhere to anchor in busy Anchorage’s. And at the time I thought having a fin keel was a right pain not being able to get into the shallow parts where there was space. Any way I’m enjoying watching your journey so keep up the great content. 😎⛵️

My crew mate's idea was to get our spinnaker halyard down with a potato wavy wire masher on the topping lift and twine down from the masher handle. I knew this wouldn't work but we got it down in 3 mins at the 2nd try. Humble pie tasted OK. Stay away from Chapmans on an easterly. Dangerous. Worse combined with flood.
@sailinggemini
@sailinggemini 26 күн бұрын
Good idea its crazy what things we try when we are stuck in a corner. We have done Chapmans pool, its coming up next week. I think it was probably the best anchorage we have done in the south . Thank you for commenting it means a lot to us.
@lubberwalker
@lubberwalker 26 күн бұрын
@sailinggemini oh phug. I can't believe I wrote that. I meant a southerly and flood.... Same for Lulworth which doesn't need the flood. Sorry all readers. So our anchor hit a fairly isolated rock in chapmans. See a Navionics user note there. It was REALLY choppy because we shouldn't have been there precisely in those conditions. The waves were coming, bouncing straight back into the middle off the tight crescent shore and colliding with new waves coming in. Boat was up and down and wind blowing it left and right. We tried to winch the anchor up but it felt like concrete. When the chain shortened to almost straight up and down over it a bow to port movement bent the bow roller to starboard. Boat came back sideways to port, straightened the chain that way and the bow roller ripped right off and overboard. Don't try to pull up a chain locked by a windless at one end and a fouled anchor at the other on a bucking boat with no bow roller. Next time the chain went taut it wrecked my hand. 4 surgeries to get my fingers back on. Tight sheets.
