Have you tried repotting blue atlas cedars yet? I hear they are quite sensitive to it and can drop all their needles, sometimes not surviving. Any experience/tips on this? Hoping to get one next spring.
@everydaybonsai
@everydaybonsai 3 ай бұрын
Hi and thanks for getting in touch. Blue atlas cedar are root-sensitive trees for which you only have a very specific window of time for repotting. The tree should be actively opening its buds and starting to elongate before the repotting process can begin. Once this has taken place, you only have about a week’s window to reduce the tree’s root mass. Also if you can avoid it, reducing the root mass by no more than 30% helps.

Hey James, thanks for getting in touch. I have done other videos on Manuka/ Kanuka and on Pohutukawa on my channel as well. Other than that I usually find it the most helpful to join a local club and go to club meetings and workshops as you will always find people that are willing to share knowledge and their experiences with native bonsai material.

Don't believe the male female theory. I live next to a gingko that is really tall and at least 3 foot wide trunk. It has round leaves and only produce flowers in the spring. Side story. Last year I did notice a bunch of seedling sprouting next to it. This year a took all of them. I think someone threw bunch of seeds next to it. I live in Japan, so maybe some one got a bunch as a present and didn't need them. I've received a bunch that I never used.
