Bordeaux bottles are not designed to hold pressure. The concave bottom is called a punt and it is primarily used to make the bottom stronger for shipping and handling, for concentrating the sediment and so that servers in restaurants have a better grip on the bottle as they traditionally hold it from the bottom while pouring for customers.

It is not called torque, should be called moment. The torque is defined the moment with respect to the beam axle. The torque in this case is zero, because the arm of the torque is zero. But the bending moments are not zero.

Well, first thing first, install studio driver first. If that does not help, than start saving money for "Qudro class" card. (NV droped the qudro brand, but you can tell from the price.) Make sure you DDU the old driver first.

We typically recommend the NVIDIA A series graphics cards (formerly the Quadro series). Those are professional-grade cards instead of consumer-grade. Overall, they provide more stability when using SOLIDWORKS and give you a supported environment, meaning SOLIDWORKS has been thoroughly tested using those cards specifically. Here's a link for our full system recommendations for SOLIDWORKS: hubs.la/Q030QGr_0

I just used the "slicing" feature, but only problem is that you cannot edit once created. You gotta delete and start all over. Unless you know another way. 3D texturing looks cool, but I'm a mech engr and don't care about cosmetics.

Thanks. Notable mention that you can break the link between your imported model (which got imported using 3DInterconnect on) and the parent file (Catia model in this case) if you desire to do so; this might be come handy for various reasons.

just had my first engineering class in college and had the final for solidworks today, and I failed. Thank god I am doing computer science.
@ian02088115 күн бұрын
Take heart, you're not alone. Any capable CAD system takes ages to become really proficient in because of all the fiddly little quirks of the productivity tools. Half the battle is imagining the part in a way that can be CAD'd appropriately without breaking the model, and that takes familiarity that college doesn't have time for. Your key takeaway should be the fundamental matrices computations necessary to model stress/strain, and the exponential workload induced by 'decreased mesh size' and 'increased node calculation complexity' product. Make the mesh size too large, and the eigenvalues will bite ya, and show up as false spikes in stress at particular nodes as the computational rounding error limitations and dimensional architecture of the finite elements in the mesh conspire to give you false infinities.

You might be good at drones, but you suck at printing. Print it lying down - save filament, save time, save weight, and still make it stronger.

what about studio drivers for NVidia gaming GPUs? will it make any difference? studio graphic card laptops or desktop PCs are unaffordable for an average student.
@goengineer17 күн бұрын
Studio drivers may provide more stability but they won't replace the stability of a professional-grade graphics card. To run SOLIDWORKS in a supported environment, you need to run a card that officially supports SOLIDWORKS like the RTX A-Series, P-series, or Quadro cards.

3:39 "This CPU is consumer grade" So what kind of CPU should you get for Solidworks? Could you explain a little more.
@goengineer17 күн бұрын
Ryan is talking about the GPU, not the CPU. The CPU in this instance is in good shape. As far as the GPU, SOLIDWORKS generally requires professional-grade graphics cards to run in a supported environment. That's not to say consumer-grade cards will never work, but they will not provide the same level of stability, and you will be more prone to issues associated with your graphics cards. SOLIDWORKS has a full list of certified graphics cards and their recommended drivers here: www.solidworks.com/support/hardware-certification/
@Niels_tenDam17 күн бұрын
@goengineer Thanks for the reply. Did not know that a GPU matters for Solidworks
