I researched the NC 500 last year and part of the recommended route was that stretch you've just completed. I'm very envious, a joy I'm sure, to ride it.

Steve, I'd suggest you get the carbs cleaned out. I had a 2007 carburretor 865 Bonneville, and after draining the tank (mostly brown gunk!) flushing a few times, cleaning the fuel tap filters and removing the carbs to clean the float bowls and jets it ran perfectly whether hot or cold!

Hi Steve. Fantastic vlog again. I agree with another comment. It's Ullapool not Allapool. I was brought up in Scotland and have never heard it said like that. I also like you did the main road to Ullapool. I wish I'd gone the back road but my 2nd days ride was 13hrs so I was pushing it to get back to my hotel in Loch lomand. 😊

Hi, I think a lesson learned here. An annual motorcycle Insurance and check the level of cover. I would advise taking one out including UK touring. A friend of mine traveled from Yorkshire through Wales. He stopped in a B&B on the outskirts of Swansea. There was a Police station 150 yards at the end of the road, they didn't even bother coming to see him. When he came down in the morning his bike had gone. His insurance was of no help at all. He had his hard panniers and all there bike gear. I traveled down the next day to collect them. The insurance company told him that he should of had travel insurance.

You know what is lovely about these videos? The way that you two are having a great father/son bonding time together. My son is 13 & when he gets his motorcycle license this will be our trip too. BTW, insurance companies spend their time reneging on contractual agreements via their small print. Off topic slightly: our pet dog was 'not insured,' even though we had paid the premium, for a heart condition because it was excluded for the first two weeks of her policy renewal. Even proving that she had never suffered from this before with previous vet's records, current vet's records & the previous insurance company wouldn't move them to pay for her treatment. So, in other words, you pay for 12 month's of insurance but get 11 months & two weeks. They are legalised scammers!

Stunning scenery 👌 I've rode all sorts of bikes and l know the advantages of riding the 1250 GS and the KTM 1290 but my Triumph Bonneville is without doubt the most Iconic beautiful motorcycle I've ever rode. That sound , the 50s look it's a piece of art. While my friends and l were having lunch, we noticed a retired gentleman looking at our bikes BMW 1250, KTM 1290 and my Triumph Bonneville. He stood there for 15minutes and noth my mates were laughing because he's was only interested in the Bonneville. He waited for us coming out and asked who owned the Triumph bonneville. Turned out he had one and wanted to know where l bought the nose fairing . People seem to love Triumph Bonneville motorcycles, people who know nothing about motorcycles, old lady's young lady's stop and say OH that's a nice bike. 😆 They say Steve McQueen was the King of Cool 😎 but we all know that ,that title belongs to the Triumph bonneville, it's without doubt the King of COOL 😎

@@TwoWheeledDreamer, I rode around some of these roads in 2012 when I went to Ullapool for an ABR weekend. Lovely weather all the way there but on the Friday evening / night we were hit with a storm that came straight off of the sea. The following morning the camp site looked like a war zone, half the tents were in the bins and the organisers decided to cancel the weekend. I had taken the slow road and taken 3 days to get there from Weymouth stopping at Loch Lomand and Skye on the Wednesday and Thursday night and then rode home in one hit, 15 hours and 675 miles of wind and rain.

That's terrible. I can't even imagine how frustrating and annoyed you were. Hope you get it all sorted out and buy another bike. I sometimes "sleep" on places that dont have closed garages but I always, as a rule, chose places that have closed garages so I can sleep. It can happen to anybody, it just takes a second. You didn't get hurt, nothing happened to you and your son, and bikes you can replace snd do it all over again! Best of luck.

Father and Son time - to be savoured. I'm 71 been riding since I was 16. My son who is in his 50's and rode for several years now has the need to start motorcycling again. Can't wait to spend some quality time together doing motor cycle stuff. I commented on your previous theft videos that they prompted to buy a monimoto tracker and a hiplock for my BMW RT. Every day the monimoto txt me to say everything is good. I have no affiliation with the company and have never bothered with a tracker. But for £145 knowing exactly where the bike is is brilliant. Safe riding to you both.

Hi Gary, yes, father and son time is very precious and even better when it involves sharing the joy of motorcycles… I will look into that tracker for my next bike as it might have made all the difference if I had had one fitted to the last bike!

There are some brilliant roads just off the NC500 which are worth riding one is from Tongue to Lairg the other is from Ullapool just do not turn off for the NC500 route and keep going marvellous tarmac to Garve then just turn right and head back to Kinlochewe to do the Pass there are many road less travelled in the highlands which are less busy in the summer months and many have better surfaces for that reason.
