do you have a video on the difference between cloud architect vs solution architect?
@IlllIlllIlllIlll2 ай бұрын
A video like this in 2024 in a LIVE setting with users asking questions would be a good idea. Just saying
@IlllIlllIlllIlll2 ай бұрын
38:45 can you make a full video regarding this subject here. So after you applied for a job for lets say cloud engineer etc on linkedin, then you go to the company page > employee section (all on linkedin/+ any other possible ways) and message 2-5 employees with the job title you applied for. And what is a good copy and paste message you can possibly send to start of the conversation with plus to also see who responds back. Shittt maybe you can also try messaging the hiring manager too. This would be awesome if you can do a step by step video like once a week. I wouldn't mind being part of it soon, as the guinea pig of attempt to transfer from retail to Cloud.

Your content is very unique I gotta say. I am in the middle of transferring from retail to cloud. Still got some hands on labs I want to do before I try to start applying

SA’s role is not entry…. you can’t jump into this job function out of college and carry any weight with other IT teams or stakeholders
@KenSzefryrice3 ай бұрын
Currently a AWS SA, it’s not what one would think. You need experience, ability to understand business needs, technical minded, and able to handle yourself when customer objections come at you. Also it has pre-sales role involve too.

Hits a couple key points- there is no single definition or scope for Solution Architect… it’s more of a category. Companies do a poor job with titles and job descriptions. I think it touches on a key point- what do you mean “code”? There are different levels of that, and not all require the same (traditional) dev skills. In cloud this growth comes from the collision of Dev and Ops people into DevOos in cloud. But I think they missed something too. People tend to value their own experience as better than alternatives… so the Dev guy says “that skill is super valuable” and it was for his path. That doesn’t exclude the value in other paths though. I agreed with all the speakers here to a large extent- but it wasn’t clear if any were “non-coders” so they can’t speak about those roles and positions from personal experience. We’re supposed to say we value diversity right? Solution Architect is not an entry-level role for non-technical people- no boot camp or certification program prepares or provides sufficient knowledge and skill. It is certainly not a safe harbor for low skill non-technically minded people to grab a large paycheck.

So we don’t need to prep for KCNA??
@openupthecloud4 ай бұрын
It's a bit tongue-in-cheek, depends on your goals. The KCNA is very theory-heavy. If you're actually trying to learn Kubernetes, I don't think it's a great starting point, essentially. I will go and take it at some point, maybe later this year. But I'm not convinced KCNA is the best place to start for a beginner.

@rmp56404 ай бұрын
I enrolled myself in one DevOps platform and going through courses, so far did Linux, Git, Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Terraform, a bit of AWS and now on FluxCD. I also applied for one SE engineer graduate program position and solved one DevOps task, I hope they will call me back!

@openupthecloud4 ай бұрын
Absolutely ! Luckily the Terraform part won't change too much, but the specifics of how it ties into the cloud provider will. There are modules for AKS and GKE (not really my wheelhouse), but you could for sure play around: github.com/terraform-google-modules/terraform-google-kubernetes-engine github.com/Azure/terraform-azurerm-aks
