My first taste of 'Southern Rock' was CDB opening for Marshall Tucker. I never got it out of my system. 😊

I live about 3 miles from the graves of Toy and Tommy Caldwell. I go and pay my respects regularly. I put a video on KZbin how to find each of their graves if you're ever in the Spartanburg South Carolina area.

Looks like Toy taking them all to school. I know Dickey to be the the " Great One", from the great ABB, but here, he seems uninterested and a little off. Even ol man Daniels is ripping it. Oh well, we all have good and bad days.RIP to D. Betts, my favorite Southern rock guitarist.

We were trying to scalp tickets outside the stadium in the ice cold Chicago winter. The MTB bus was there, and they invited both me and my sister on the bus, great guys, real gentlemen. We were short a ticket so they let my sister sit just off the stage to view the show.... True story.

I can say I was there......Lived in Hendersonville, about 15 miles out of Nashville...."The Jam" was the highlight of concerts there. About anyone tied to Southern Rock would show up...the '24hrs At A Time" live version with Charlie on Fiddle is second to none...he made several guest appearances all over when Marshall Tucker played...it was very special...

That thumb, Toy isn't the only person who played with a style like this. It is rare but this came to be simply because of the times. People were taught to play with thumb picks back then if any picks at all. Most move to picks and use a combination of pick and fingers. Very rare for a lead guitarist to play in this style. Especially with the speed and accuracy of Toy. Caldwell.
