I bought the plans. Im starting with the mayerial list to gather everything a piece at a time. Fits my budget. Thanks for the great video!! Its gonna be the perfect addition to my John Suscovich chicken tractor.

Looks 100% better. Now open it up and hope you don't have a mouse problem inside. They love to nest and chew up the canvas. Ask me how I know.
@WeekendRenegades11 күн бұрын
Thankfully the inside is perfect. Has a bit of a musk to it, but I’m sure we’ll get rid of that over time.

You left a gap between the walls and the roof, between the joists, big enough for a weasel to crawl through. I'm willing to bet all of your chickens are now dead.
@WeekendRenegades10 күн бұрын
My chickens are alive and well. Weasels aren't really something we were concerned about here. More concerned with large raccoons. If you were concerned about weasels it would be easy enough to add some venting or wire in those gaps.
@desmondfedaykin887210 күн бұрын
@WeekendRenegades fair enough. Weasels are a big problem for chickens in my area. You can't leave them any openings. I've heard stories of them pulling chickens through chicken wire.

I’ve never seen a load bearing wall without at least 3or4 sistered wall studs. I would question whether that was actually bearing any load at all.
@WeekendRenegades10 күн бұрын
based on charts I could find, 3" on each side was the minimum requirement for the span and estimated load. The beam itself is oversized for what it's holding. Definitely wouldn't hurt to add some supports at each end though.

Builds as pretty a little hen house as you’ll ever see and attaches the most eye sore looking run to it as you’d never want to see.

Sorry for the late reply! This is listed as a 12 chicken coop I believe. But personally I'd do 6 to 8 hens.

Just buy it. By the time you collect all the material and the tools needed to build this. Power tools, wood, any other stuff. You would be past $3000 so it’s cheaper to just buy one.

Good point. It'd be interesting to put a materials list together and see what it comes out to.

I don't believe it was the leveling that is the problem. only nails or glue will fix the problem. what do you mean by a cracking problem
@WeekendRenegades10 күн бұрын
It was a harsh cracking sound as you walked across the floor. On the next flooring project I glued it to the concrete and had zero issues

I wanted to do it myself, in fact my father had just done one himself albeit it leans like the tower of pisa 😂. He showed me his cost of materials and it was only a little over a 1k more than buying. So i bought instead and got it built in one day. Spent my free time with my family.
