Why is it always Gen Con...? How do you fail to bring anything to draw people in? Advertising 101. I kind of get it; we all think our ideas are amazing and it's going to be the Best Thing Ever™️, but the likelihood of being so successful everyone overlooks the flaws of The Thing and your own inexperience is so, so slim. We all want to be successful (whatever that may look like) but...this was an epic overlooking of so many things. Oof... I don't mean to be mean but...my spine hurts from that level of cringe (in regards to what they thought would happen). Oh dear... If art was a selling point, starving artists wouldn't exist. And good on this person for setting down their partner to talk about this and do the work to help them as much as they could.

Lots of folks don't realize it is a business. You, or someone you are working with, needs to do all the other parts beyond the creative part. Mainly the marketing part. You have to get your product in front of the audience you are going after.

And if you're going to a con, regardless of the size of that con, you need to have someone there who knows how to work the crowd, and how to pitch your product.

Jesus Christ. What a cringe explanation those people had. Well, glad it wasn't my money. But all that aside, you do make a valuable point, not just from a tabletop/game developer perspective, but just work ethic in general. I come across so many people around me in the work force, they want everything handed to them on a silver platter, or believe they are just going to get lucky and either get the promotion after spending 2 months on the job, or instantly land that 6 figure salary off the bat (even with degrees etc.). In my experience, I don't care what your background is, the way to succeed is going from the Bottom - UP. Do your job, do it well, war of attrition, and build your own foundation. That's what happened to me, except I didn't ask for my promotions, I was drafted or "volunteered" because I knew what the hell I was doing. Sure it's more money, but added responsibility/work load/mental exhaustion always sucks. But hey, the world keeps on turning.

Many of us wear so many hats when it comes to running a small business. Approaching a company is often hit or miss, but I've found that doing so first thing at the start of the day is best. Before things get busy. Offering to help or just being kind can and does leave a good impression. Make eye contact, introduce yourself, explain how you like the product. Come back later. Say hello. Don't give up. Many scammers are just looking for easy money. Persistence can help but you have to read the room so to speak. Not everyone responds to this kind of approach.

Being helpful is literally my go-to tactic in life (because my brain is full of spice, lol). I've lost count of how offering to get someone a drink from the green room, or how helping someone setup or break down a table, has led to connections I never would have otherwise made.

Currently running a Vampire chronicle that was supposed to be a short one but i got inspiration. A mixed coterie of Camarilla/Anarchs forced to work together to investigate a Sabbat incursion on their city while avoiding the hunters that the same Sabbat is attracting. After the end of this story I plan to switch the game for Hunter, continuing with the human perspective. After that, Werewolf. After that, Sabbat. And for the final story we return to the original coterie and as the chronicle comes to an end hopefully I'll allow them to grab control of all of their previous characters, simultaneously, and allow them to decide how the whole thing is going to end.

I think there is a another solution here ( tho I do enjoy your good story telling). This involves more than just the Wyrm however, we need to veiw this issue in the full context of The Trinity: The Weaver, The Wyld and The Wyrm. One of the biggest problems with Pentex is that it really encroaches upon the interest of The Weaver- the aspect of Order. The Wyrm is originally suppose to represent Entropy and became the aspect of Corruption only when it was entrapped by the Weaver. Remembering that the Black Spiral labyrinth the Dancers are named for is in fact those very same Webs. Finally we come to the Wyld, the Aspect of Chaos which creates the very substrate the Weaver turns into order and the Wyrm decays. WW:A never really takes true advantage of the full Trinity when it comes to antagonist, and I think we can fix the Pentex conundrum by changing some of the symbolism and by redirecting our focus from the Wyrm to the Weaver. The reason why the Wyrm doesn't come into greater power sooner is because those systems it is now corrupting was being created and propelled by The Weaver which was now left unchecked. Over time the Weaver has come to dominate the Wyld and now the Wyrm is taking advantage. I also think that in this scenario the Wyrm would be best represented not as a serpent but as Fungal mycelium. Fungi are inherently the best biological representations for Entropy as both primary decomposers and as major symbiotic & disease causing organisms. As well it fits having the Weaver being represented by an Animal, the Wyld represented by plant growth and the Wyrm being represented by fungi since there are the three kingdoms of Eukaryotic (multicellular) life. Two webs, one of the Weaver which organizes and one of the Wyrm which decays- parity well- competing with each other, while the primary producer Wyld is caught in the crossfire. The Wyrms corruption can be seen through the lens of mycology, of a once mutalistic symbiotic relationship to Gaia, much like the mycorrhizal network connected to a tree, which has now turned into a parasite feeding on the host now that it's immune system and environment have been so severly damaged. This I think provides a better over all antagonism between the memebers of the Trinity, it provides better motivation for those who become wyrm corrupt- beyound monsters of the week or "because their dark little edgelords". Now instead they have •justification• for actively corrupting the Weavers work. The war isn't strictly with Gaia or the Wyld, Gaia has just turned into the war torn battle field & the Wyld is the collateral damage. I always felt the Weaver should be just as much a Big Baddie of the setting and by focusing on the Weaver it now opens up a war on two fronts, even leaves room for a second competing Mega corp in the same Vein as Pentex but owned by the Weaver- and it pushes tribes like The Glasswalkers & the Bone Gnawers to have better potential conflcits both with the other tribes and in their own territories.

Here's the problem with Pentex, it CAN'T be such a powerful globe-spanning entity ONLY on the back of market processes. Even the assistance of dark magic can only take a company so far when it's acting more like a Captain Planet villain than any corporeal being tied to market processes. The only way that even real life examples of corporate villainy can get to the point of being able to act as such is when they are actively aided and abetted by the government. And as fiascoes like the Camelford Poisoning, the toxic dump under Love Canal, or even the environmental failings under the Soviets (heard Pripyat's nice this time of year, and perhaps we can take a swim in the Aral Sea) and those of the CCP show, the government is perfectly happy to blacken the skies just as much, if not more, than any private enterprise is alleged to do, for reasons ranging from simply not wanting to ever admit that they got something wrong, to wanting to have and/or maintain totalitarian control over its citizenry. Thus to have it as JUST corporate villainy simply doesn't work. And all that's on top of my personal bias of seeing the whole trope of 'muh-Capitalism Bad' as being so entirely played out that I instantly lose interest in media the very moment I hear it. Everything that can be done with that trope has already been done, and none of it has ever been good or interesting.

These people possessed by banes and such have always existed. Power hunger has driven this for millennia. Capitalism had existed long before the birth of Pentex. @AzukailGames18 күн бұрын
Yes, it can be surprisingly useful. Crafters generally hate it because of the appearance and cutting it, but a sharp enough craft blade - and I'm using cheap, several for £1 knives, will, if you gently slide it through the polystyrene, leave a clean cut, albeit make the remnants stick to everything with static, and covering it with toilet paper, in this case, or even just a coat of PVA and paint, will hide the distinctive bubble texture. It's a cheap way of padding out builds too with a material that is normally just chucked away at best.

I disagree with the "problem", since I believe Pentex has always represented the aggravation of the world's problems via tech, the CEOs that murdered the Kings and whispered "you were barely the beginning," the rampant corporate growth that was enabled by modernity. It mirrors America. Barely a few centuries old and the linchpin of global politics for better... or for worse.

Welcome to the broader universe of the World of Darkness, a role playing game that’s setting is superficially very similar to our own, only darker, with the shadows teeming with monsters of all kinds that are simultaneously utterly inhuman but also deep reflections of the worst elements of our society. Players take the roles of beings that usually have one foot in the mundane and one foot in the supernatural and have to fight to maintain the humanity, sanity, morality, and obviously for their lives. This video heavily focuses on Werewolf the Apocalypse, of which I won’t butcher an explanation of since this video pretty perfectly describes the fight Werewolf characters face every day. There are other games like Vampire the Masquerade, where players take the role of vampires, trying to hide their identities from the mortals around them while navigating the endlessly complex web of intrigue found in vampire society. As opposed to the heavy themes of environmentalism and capitalism, Vampire focuses on class struggle and intimate violence as every vampire possesses the ability to greater or lesser extents to subvert the will and consent of others. There’s a host of other books that would immerse players in the worlds of Fae, Mages, Demons, and Hunters of all of the above. They all have their own worldviews and contexts, and for those crazy enough to do so, you can tie them all together into one massive world of darkness. I also stumbled across this creator and he seems great so I’d say stick around here. A personal favorite World of Darkness creator you can find by looking up Hunter the Parenting, which is a fun homemade animation that has gone through leaps and bounds, and then from the same people Norfolk Wizard Game which is an actual play in the World of Darkness.
