72 months at 0.99% would cost significantly less ($707/month * 72 months = $50,904) than 84 months at 7.39% ($757/month * 84 months = $63,588). New vehicles are not for everyone, and it is fine. Low APR makes new vehicle more affordable for a lot more people. By the way, remember, that if you drive Tesla, you likely saving at least $100 each month on gas of a comparable ICE vehicle. ... And well equipped Honda CRV Hybrid or RAV4 Hybrid can easily get over $40,000. Considering that now other auto manufacturers offer deals on financing, the first question to ask is if you want and can to buy a new car (any car) in first place. Tesla or not Tesla is a secondary question from the finances point.

I have a Model Y on order looking for the 0.99% rate, but they still have not taken action on my loan application. Apparently they don’t until they have a VIN for your car. For me, the FSD is the deal maker, my mom and step dad cannot see well driving at night now in their 80’s, and getting into a hot car during the summer during the day is also a major problem for them. The Tesla you can just hop on the app tell it to cool the car before getting in, and then having the car drive them around they will be able to go places at night. I have always just bicycled so the car is mostly for them, and she will drive like a little old lady because she is one and always has too. I had a CDL so I am an excellent driver, and I doubt we put more than thirty miles on it a week, so our insurance should be low.

This is pretty much the issue with any decent vehicle in 2024 - SO expensive. Last week, I bought a used one-owner Model 3 Long Range that was traded in at the BMW dealership. Right now, Hertz is dumping a bunch of Teslas on the used market, most appear to be standard range. But that has really tanked the value of a used Model 3. I would not get a car that had been used as a rental, but I could get a better deal right now because of the "Hertz effect". I paid $29K for a 2022 that sold retail 2 years ago for $52K, It's in excellent condition, 32K miles, has tint and PPF, dealership put on 4 new Michelins, and it's running the latest FSD, $7K down, $600 payments for 48 months. Your content is good, you have clearly done a LOT of research. Like you, I just can't pay retail, $900 payments, and be the sucker that takes all that depreciation. Perhaps you can find a similar deal to mine. I could not be more pleased with it. Happy to tell you more about the experience. Take care!

Thank you! Just installed a Vantrue E1 on my 2023 Bolt EUV. Came out perfect. For those that want to record while the car is off, you can turn on the accessories only by pressing the Start button without putting the brake on, this will energize your cigarette lighter socket. Turn everything (radio, fan, etc) off and your camera will be recording while you are gone. The camera only draws 2.5 watts so it can run for hours (30+) without draining the battery. The accessory battery will recharge when you drive the car. When I go surfing I do this, and you don't need to buy the Park Mode connector cable. If you want true Park Mode protection 24x7 you will need the optional cable and you run the risk of killing your main battery if you leave the car sitting for an extended time.

My biggest issue with EV's is that the charging infrastructure isn't there. Aside from the fact that it takes so long to charge and would extend a 500 mile trip by hours, you'd be lucky to even find charging stations that work between start and finish of your trip. All that said, EV's aren't as carbon neutral and "clean" as people think. To generate that extra grid energy to charge EV's creates more pollution then the equivalent combustion engine vehicles.

I have a 17 maxima. 110k miles. I am a mercedes technician at a dealeship for 23 years. This is my 3rd nissan. One of the main reasons I purchased this vehicle was the looks and also the engine reliability. Normally aspirated 3.5 V6 you just can't go wrong no turbos to break. I do have a heavy foot and a spirited driver. This car hangs with the higher end vehicles. Pulls like crazy and has great mid-range performance. They really dialed in the CVT on this car i have no complaints at all. All those VW golfs, civics, stingers, just cant hang with this cars passing power! I still get lots of Thumbs Up and even the occasional what kind of car is that? I'll let my mechanic buddies drive it and they absolutely think it's a joy to drive. But they do say " its a nissan though" as he drives away in his shity Kia. Lol vehicle is very responsive and very comfortable. Never had any issues with the engine at all. Did recently have to take it to Nissan for the rear lower control arms/ links breaking but Nissan repaired it for free as you can see in my KZbin videos. I'm hesitant to move up to a twin turbo V6 due to reliability issues. If they come out with another Maxima I would definitely purchase. Not many vehicles out there come close in all catergoiries in my opinion.

I had one 6 years. Loved the power but wanted something newer and more premium. Have a TLX SH-AWD now, it’s been a nice replacement. The incentives though are great now that it’s discontinued. CVT was never an issue but rattles, glaze on headlights needing to be recoated, foam in seats disintegrating, that black trim external pilar piece in the back needing replacement and other little things got to me over time. Also lower trim have kind of dim halogen projectors vs LED, or xenons on older Maximas.

Fwd is perfectly fine since most if not all Maximas were FWD. The thing that killed the Maxima is the fact that it priced itself out of the market towards the end by not offering the option of AWD like its little brother the Altima, and its bigger brother the Skyline/Q50 sedan, as well as not offering the option of a turbo engine like those two cars, and the last thing that put the nail in its coffin is Nissan’s reluctance or naivety of not offering a traditional transmission with actual gears in it, for a manual and a regular geared automatic. The CVT could have been less of a crutch if they were at least able to handle large amounts of torque and were actually reliable for more than 100k-150k miles. But Nissan doesn’t seem to want to learn from all of their mistakes don’t they? If Nissan actually had learned they would have either put a real normal transmission in the car or just discontinued it years ago without having to put a CVT in the first place, or made the damn thing reliable and strong enough to actually handle power thrown at it. (Crazy part is Nissan actually made an extremely high torque CVT in the late 90’s and early 2000’s that could handle almost 450 lb ft of torque. It’s called a toroidal CVT and it’s basically 2 CVTs fused together that use a program in the ECU to simulate 6 to 8 physical gears. Nissan put some of them in the Gloria and the Skyline V35 (aka JDM Infiniti G35) around that timeframe. They also tended to use a thick chain belt similar to what Subaru uses in their CVTs vs the “staple” belt Nissan uses in all their CVTs since then.)

Do you thnk parting your car is a reasonable alternative? Please reply. You may already know about car parting, and after hearing your story, I Googled searched: People who will part out cars and job. Upon scanning the results, I clicked on one website that intuitively appears reputable and competent. If you input your vehicle information, they will follow up by asking a series of questions, to include, year, mileage, make, model, edition, and different forms of damage, pertaining to the body and engine, and ask for an email to reply with an estimated value. You mention not having a garage, which may imply not having a set of tools to work on the car, which may further delay getting it on the road. If you are not highly familiar with car parting, ChrisFixx has released his fair share of videos. He has one specifcally on buying a parts car, and demonstrating how to part it out.

Thanks for a perspective on why to buy a Nissan Maxima. I agree the Maximia has always been a rare gem of car sought after by many generations of American citizens. In the 80s, It was regarded as a truly sophisticated alternative to United States luxury cars. Towards the end of the 80s, and into the 90s. it also grew in size, power. As i recall, some of the 90s versions have been on the roads for decades being recirculated on the used car markets. They were never cheap and needed to be purchase at a premium. Perhaps, the only reason why you don't see a lot of used 2000 and up versions on the road is because as the cars grew in sophistication, they also became more complex to maintain. There market was also beginning to be encroached upon by newer cheaper alternatives offered by the Korean automotive market. For instance the Hyundai Sonatas optioned with V-6s.

IMO, there are multiple issues with the newer generations of Maxima that led to its demise 1. It went from rear wheel drive to front wheel drive. 2. Automatic transmission became a CVT, which are notoriously terrible especially the one that Nissan used. 3. The price of that generation was too expensive to a comparable Honda Accord or Toyota Camry with a V6. Both of which had much better reputation of reliability. 4. The Maxima looked too similar to it's sibling, the Altima, which was a lot less expensive and can be equipped with a V6. 5. Nissan built quality decline significantly when they were having financial problems as well as merging with Renault. 6. Nissan became associated with certain groups of people who have bad credit since Nissan was offering loans to almost anyone. Personally, I would Rather buy an older generation Maxima than a new one. I'm sure it will last longer. Additionally, I would only consider two products from Nissan: the Frontier truck (anything before the latest generation), and of course the legendary GTR.

Hell - I could have bought a shell in better condition than this one for $2000 😅 - Now that the money's spend it's a bit more difficult of a decision - try and sell the car for $750 and take a $1250 loss or fix the car and have it running for maybe $5000-$6000.
