Always been a fan of ELO . Jeff Lynne is such a brilliant songwriter. If I was ever lucky enough to win the lottery I would pay any amount to his favourite charity for a half days guitar lesson. Brilliant. 👍👍👍

Could Jeff Lynne be an alien from outer space? He can create music that is out of this world. He can even sing and use extraterrestrial messages in his songs.

I learned this song today and because I know the melody so well I absolutely flew through it until I came up against a chord I've never heard of which took longer to get right than the rest of the song. (Some augmented chord on the B,G and D string)

Ladies and Gentlemen... if you had a video camera in the early 1800s and interviewed Beethoven about one of his compositions, it might have looked something like this. This man is a true musical genius in an industry that throws the word around like candy. Tom Petty, George Harrison, Dave Grohl and many others have recognized his brilliance. He makes it look so easy.

From 1972 to 1986, ELO accumulated more combined UK and US Top 40 hits than any other band in the world, and also generated the third most UK and US separate Top 40 hits. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_Light_Orchestra_discography

Love Jeff. So underrated. However, I do believe that Dm to G aug chord movement was used by John Lennon in Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite
@Oh_I_Will3 жыл бұрын
Two things wrong here; JL has NEVER been under rated Notes are not similar to Mr Kite
@yeadogthazmyboi3 жыл бұрын
@@Oh_I_Will @OH_I _Will ok. Thank you for your feedback. Underrated is a relative term and I do think Jeff is underrated and underappreciated when compared to people like Tom Petty. Also there is a Dm to G aug right in the intro of Being for the Benefit of Mr Kite (they are the two chords just before Lennon starts singing. Go play them yourself and tell me I'm wrong) and a couple other times in the song. Just because you are cocky doesn't mean you are correct
@Oh_I_Will3 жыл бұрын
@@yeadogthazmyboi that’s fine that you think that, but honestly, I don’t. Comparing apples to oranges Artists means things to different people. Petty can’t touch Jeff’s creative period of the 70’s. However, once Jeff began phasing out his supporting cast (Bev, Kelly, Mik, etc) I truly think, he began short cutting his song creations. I think Jeff’s Zoom and beyond era is just average at best. I like some of Tom’s music, but I’m not a major fan of his or the Heartbreakers catalog
