thank you so much for sharing this. in all my searching on here, this is the first video that actually lets me watch closely and follow your thought process without having to decipher 360p pixel goop recorded at a bad angle, sped up to 5x speed with background music. also it's so nice to see you reply to people's comments. i hope i can start asking informed questions soon, but currently i'm still in the process of shaping my first steel pan hybrid.

A bit far from Colorado … to the south. How much would an 8+1 Pygmy with D as root note in 20”? And would it be feasible to squeeze an extra note on the top without sacrificing playability or sound quality?

@@ajnagyptian2012 we never sold a Goliath handpan, they are at least 10x harder and more work to build than a normal handpan. We can’t sell one for anywhere the price it’s worth. Also they are to large to ship, would have to build a custom pallet

Hi Jerred, thanks for sharing your knowledge through these great videos! When you hammer the distal from the top of the pan, are you lowering the fundamental to marry it with the 5th and octave? Would you be willing to elaborate, please?
@jerredchouseman4 ай бұрын
Thanks, yeah fundamental and octave take more work to drop. But try tuning them all simultaneously, they will all go out while trying to dial in one by one. Also Tuning the fifth pretty close then raising it to pitch from hammering the top side, next to the note helps raise it tons. Usually tighten the octave on the inside bottom border of the note. And raise the pitch of fundamental either on the outside of the top of border, or inside of pan on the border. But you also have to hammer the bubbles of the note itself to adjust the compression to get the notes in the correct balance. The pinching of the borders are for fine tuning after the note is loosened enough and close. If the note is to low in pitch, tap around on the outside of the note on the area your trying to raise, on the top of the pan

I've got a bunch of tongue pans / drums but not an actual handpan yet. But I also don't want to overlap scales with my current drums but I'm thinking a goliath might be a great unique thing to start with...... Excellent stuff!

Wich scale do you recommend to play with a E Sunrise?
@jerredchouseman4 ай бұрын
I’m guessing that’s the traditional Celtic minor scale in E? Is your pan made by Dii? I’m not positive because every builder has a different name for scales on pans. Can you give me the notes, then I can give you the perfect matching scale for it

I was comparing vids to those, looks really different, this has very weird spikes all over it and shape. The balloons I saw are more uniform. There is similarities but i would say it’s different.
