Lmao I’ve been watching these vids every so often since they were out out and only now figured out what screen tearing is. Honestly didn’t even notice it before. It’s barely even a thing, do people notice things like that????

For me, after the champion. My Destiny journey came to and end. It just did not feel right to jump right back to the seasonal loop after the main story.

I wouldn't call the campaign awful, and some of the smaller complaints are just that he's missing information from some past seasons. But I agree with Jez that the campaign wasn't the best story of all time. It had great moments, and was a massive step in the right direction. Its just unfortunate that that step was the final step in the main story for the majority of people. The story was solidly decent, with some very good sections sprinkled in. Considering the quality of lightfall, I'm glad that we got an ending to the saga that was more character focused and personal, even if it is flawed.

Although you do get some details wrong I do agree with this video as a whole. Destiny players will hate on this video because they are not very familiar with good writing.

There are so many people saying "lol u cant complain if you never cared", which is almost right, but you're all also missing the fact that telling a story over 10 years one word at a time is not a good way to tell a story and it's literally part of Jezs argument. Keeping with his restaurant/feces analogy, imagine you order a steak and then they bring it out to you one piece at a time, and then they charge you for every bite you take extra to the big bill at the end. That's just not a good way to eat a steak. You all need to stop complaining and pretending like the whole "10 year saga" is equivalent to 10 years of equal quality and paced storytelling. The story of destiny is a 1-3 year story (one campaign) that was stretched out into 10 years.

Yeah I agree the final shape wasn’t the most amazing conclusion it was good but I wish it touched more on zavala or our decision In the conflicts instead of blindly following the traveller.

A guardian boss fight in destiny would be nuts to balance for pve. I feel like it would almost have to be an extremely gimmicked fight with very little to no challenge outside of ads. Honestly it would probably be just like the actual final fight.

Anytime I come across oddly placed, nonsense word salad in dialogue lines especially I immediately picture some writer, or room of writers, patting themselves on the back and telling themselves how smart they are... Instead of being focused on the game, movie or whatever the hell it is I'm actually supposed to be focused on.

Lots of varying opinions in this comment section lmao. Such a mess. The one point I have agreed with Jez on for all of this time is that truly important character story/background or events crucial to the current story/plot SHOULD NOT be left in the lore. I personally thought that TFS campaign was fine. Good, even. At some points. Could've done without having Zavala's family baggage being a focal point AGAIN, having already been important in Season of the Whatever. I totally wanted to see either Zavala succumb to the temptations of the Witness or sacrifice himself at some point. I grew tired of the teasing that set up by Bungie to go in either direction. Targe dying was of no consequence for me. I didn't care about him, as a character. DEFINITELY in the camp of people who don't care for our ghost. The bits with Cayde were EXCELLENT. So well done. It's kinda sad that TFS may have been my exit/finale for the game. Considering how much my life has changed because of this game. But I've mentally moved on, grown tired of the Destiny content model. I mostly enjoyed TFS for what it is, what it offered. I'm good with this being my finale.

Too many people here don't realize that his criticisms are valid because he's a player that doesn't dive into the grimoires or comics and reviews the story that THE GAME PRESENTS. If the game doesn't present the whole story well and makes you play through season after season and read 14 books outside of the game then the storytelling in the actual game is bad. Full stop.

Bungie needed to release another expansion before the Witness Arc that was entirely focused on the relationship between guardians and their ghosts. Probs could've been done if they had a couple hundred more employees imo.

I hadn't seen the Witnesses origin cutscene and you know what Jez, You're right. But also why does receiving literal excrement instead of steak give you a bonner??? already more interested than at any point of lightfall.

Here's the thing is that I want to be immersed in a fantasy world and appreciate mechanics being accurate to the lore so your assessment of "Shoot dark ball get buff", if the game literally told me that I would just quit, like that is such absolute trash writing, even if you try to dress it up "Shoot the darkness spheres to get empowerment" like no that is also extremely lazy and is shit writing. I want to know what EXACTLY that sphere is and what "buff" or energy I am receiving from it. I don't care that entire stories or cutscenes can be boiled down to 1-2 sentences because that is just lazy and lame, I want the writers to express themselves fully and make sense of everything they can when I watch a cutscene. I want more words. Not more than what the campaign said, I think that was the perfect amount but this is the sentiment, I'm happy when they go into details about what things mean because they know I will never read the lore, this is why I play games and watch cutscenes instead. Shortening things isn't always good. Especially when talking about narrative Jez.

About Ace and Micah: Isn't the point about Cayde being unsure about Ace's existence because he thinks he can't trust his own journals? The ones that are purportedly from before he was an Exo could actually be from one of his previous resets trying to make sense of their fragmented memories --because he thinks they must be from before he became an Exo when that doesn't have to be the case.
@OhYeah_8 сағат бұрын
The Witness is such a boring character. They could have done something interesting with it but Bungie’s current writers don’t know how to writer anything other than fan fiction slop. Seth Dickinson’s idea of the darkness with the Winnower was infinitely more interesting and better written than what any Bungie writer could ever hope to pull off.
@muyandos8 сағат бұрын
Destiny campaign stories usually aren't good which is unfortunate. They cook in the lore books but somehow when it comes to the actual game they fall on their face. And yeah, everyone talks SO MUCH!!

His Lightfall video was great and right on the money, but this is just petty incoherent whining from a man where never paying attention to story and lore is part of his brand. There is nothing of value here.
@LunaPPK4 сағат бұрын
your whole comment basically went" hie doesn't validate my opinion so its nothing of value" and you basically admit to this by bringing up lightfall amazing
@Bugattiboy9123 сағат бұрын
@@LunaPPK His Lightfall video has actual criticisms. This video is doing exactly what he's criticizing Bungie for. Superfluous incoherent explanations. He's also self inserting by saying the story is bad. Of course he thinks it's bad. I would too if I never paid attention to it. And that's fine, that's his brand, but he should NOT be uploading videos where he says the story is bad or incoherent because he didn't pay attention. That's not a Bungie problem at that point. That's a Jez problem.

This expansion was like a last date with your first romance before you break up. I loved D1 and have been with D2 through Final Shape but it just hurts too much to continue. I’ve been gaslit, beaten, loved, and abused over and over. Each cycle began with whispers of sweet nothings and now I know that’s what it was. Sweet nothings. Looking back, I now see when and where Bungie was doing things wrong. Do I wish that I had stopped and seen the truth? No. Because I loved Destiny. I spent days playing with my friends and having fun. And now….I have the heart to say it. Goodbye Destiny. You were my friend. I loved you.

28:51 "Crow I respect you too much to say" is the perfect line and had me audibly laugh. Really, 91 writers is overkill and overcrowds the space. It should be more like 3-8 writers, sweet spot being like 5.

Bungie have always been a big fan of 7. To me, that's quite fitting, because I really enjoyed the first 7 missions of Final Shape. But having the raid be a major plot point only to then be followed up by Excision completely killed all enjoyment I had in the narrative. It completely burnt me out on the game, and I've struggled to come back (having tried several times) and I really don't know what would get me to come back properly, other than maybe undoing all the DCV stuff, so I can play the old campaigns again, and to play on the old Patrol Destinations again.

When I saw cayde about to give up his light for our ghost, I was really hoping he would become our ghost. So he would basically be our narritor moving forward. I thought that would have been pretty neat.
