Ey up Just found your channel, and as a longtime biker and fellow camper, I couldn’t resist watching this episode, love an adventure Here’s a tip, been doing this for years, run some lengths of electrical tape across the top of your visor sufficient to block out the low sun. It’s a cheap solution and the tape can be removed at any time Just sub’d Si thee

Did you need to have 50/50 tyres to do this loop? Was anyone checking?

@@neilcook8774 on the Bridgestone trail you can get away with more road based tires. The trf trail I think they did check but I don’t think they stopped you if you didn’t have 50/50 as a minimum but they did warn you it would be difficult due to the water/mud on the track.

@ at last years abr Kim had mitas e07+ on her ktm 690 and she had no problems. I’m sure I did see bikes with the likes of Pirelli Str rally tyres which are definitely not a 50/50 tyre. What rubber will you be running?

Great review thanks, just ordered the carbon one, loved my original commander…. Question, does the camera mount that you have on chin transfer straight across from your old commander or do I need buy new cam mount? Many thanks

@@TwoFourCharlie007 cheers. Yes the chin mount works on both the mk1 and mk2. I’m sure it only list one for the commander helmet on the chin mount website.

I've just bought this helmet and I tell you what it's bloody noisy. With the main visor closed its terrible, the wind noise is shocking. The only way to use it was with the visor open and the sun visor down. I took the peak off and it was worse. A bit disappointing really.

Wearing glasses sucks with this helmet. You really have to dick around to get the arms inside the lid the right way or the bloody things slide down your nose. I use a mic for my action cam, I have it stuck into the cheek pad but it can end up touching my face which also sucks. I've thought of drilling a hole where the picture of the mic is on the chin pad and poking the wire thru, guess what's the ONLY spare part you can't seem to buy if I eff it up? The chin pad. I like the tinted inner visor and the actuator. I really like the main visor. I've heard folk say this is a quiet helmet, I wouldn't wanna go too far without ear plugs.

Had commander two for one season, done about 6k miles in it. They say the ventilation is improved compared to first generation, but in reality, it sucks a big time. You can't tell when the vents are open and when closed. No difference. The other thing that suck is not adjustable peak. It searing a bit high so no shade from sun at all. The third thing I don't like is tiny little button unlocking the visor. Really struggle with even summer gloves 👎🏻 Other than that I love it. It's light and comfortable for me, that's what counts in my book 👍 Please bear in mind - a comfort is very very personal thing. What fit one person, can be pain in the ars for the other

I just bought one from your review. Seems a great helmet. One question I have. Did you use extra sticky pads to get your cardo mount to stay on. I have placed mine where yours is and it keeps falling off.

@@benjicollins1 I used the sticky pad supplied by Cardo but used a little heat first to help the glue and just pressed on it for ages until it was stuck. Hope that helps man 🤙🏻

@@benjicollins1 make sure you clean the area on the helmet before sticking, I used the missus hairdryer removed the cover from the sticky pad warmed that and a very gentle amount of heat on the helmet then applied lots of pressure until it was on 👍🏻

Awesome video both. Really enjoy watching these. I'm very much an amateur trail rider, you are both waaay better than me! Watching you 2, is an inspiration, as the lanes you've ridden in Wales, are where I go (or want to go). I was especially pleased, at the end of this video, to see where the last lane finished, I've been trying to find it on the maps for ages! I ride a KTM 790 Adventure, so I'm looking for the easier trails, forestry roads etc. So, seeing the end of this video, has, finally, given me an idea, of where to join that particular trail. I have a mate, who lives near by, so I can stay at his if needed. Thanks both, keep the videos coming, ride safe and have fun. Grumps

@@rippinrogers so it was a bit of a “MacGyver” made up thing. I had a triple surface mount pod with a usb 12volt power port and a volt meter and on top of that was a “L” bracket nut and bolted to to the pod and just a quad lock kit but make sure you use a vibration damper on the 640 my iPhone 13 Camara was affected by the vibration. Hope that makes sense? Great bike by the way I regret selling mine

Is the cut out for the jbl bigger on commander 2? I had to modify my commander 1 to get the speakers to fit properly.

@@fredriknordstrom4640 yes it is mate, I had the same problem as you with the commander 1 had to cut the hole slightly deeper to get the helmet comfortable. The commander 2 has deeper recesses and I think slightly bigger in diameter to the jbl speakers that come with the Cardo fit perfectly and the room around due to the much improved padding makes it way more comfortable 🤙🏻

Yeah that was unplanned 😂 as I entered the corner applied the rear brake and slid so let off run wide that grass was like ice 🧊 😂 the 34psi in the rear tyre didn’t help it went round eventually 😊

Just bought a 2 to go along side my two 1’s. Had the same issue sticking the mic in, so I’ll probably glue it. No issue with the visor pins. Very pleased with the updates to an already great helmet. Thank you👍

Cheers buddy We are happy with the new version of a very good helmet. The mic I use is the small Velcro backed one that comes with the Cardo so I might try the other one with the flexible arm and attach the GoPro mic to that see if that works. 🤙🏻

How's the coverage with the drop down sun visor on the 2? Looking for an ADV helmet that has one but I've noticed on quite a few helmets they don't drop down far enough and you have a large space underneath the visor where you get blasted with sun light. Kind of annoying and distracting.

Thanks for the review, I hope we can see the follow up soon. Does it still fit fine? I'm thinking of getting one, but my measurements are right between two sizes and I can't find them locally to test fit. Can you move the peak up/down, or is it fixed in one position?

The follow up “review” should be up later today. I got the xl and it fits perfectly for me I had an xxl in the original commander helmet. The peak is fixed I think I can’t remember for certain but I’ll check and let you know later 👍🏻
