Decluttering is a life-time mindset. It’s not a one and done. I consider it a hobby. I have to think of it this way because I have hoarding and over buying tendencies. My mom and my sisters are all like this. It seems to be in our DNA. I keep a large, standing laundry basket in the corner of our guest room and we throw things into it EVERY week. We make many trips to the local thrift store each year. Once you start getting rid of your expensive stuff, it really make you question on what you buy in the future. Luckily my husband is not an over buyer or a hoarder so he keeps me accountable. We usually buy used stuff so it’s cheaper and easier to declutter when it’s no longer useful.

Is some of that fabric stretchy? If so, do you need to stabilize it with SF101 or anything? If not, once you have your batting, backing and all done, will it look funny after it gets washed someday with all the different types of fabric in it? I'm making a quilt for someone using her mothers clothes after her mom died, and I was told I needed to use a cotton stabilizer. But I was also told I'd need to wet the stabilizer and drip dry it so everything will be uniform or whatever and I won't have problems when the quilt gets washed down the line. What is your take on that. Because I didn't know that before saying that I would make the quilt. I'm doing it for free. It's going to be a lot more work to have to shrink the stabilizer before ironing it on to the flat pieces of fabric after cutting the clothes up. I've never done anything like this before. I'm used to just using purchased cotton fabric do make the few quilts I've made over the years. Thanks for any help you can give me.

@@irenecoker9650 yes some of my fabrics had a bit of stretch. I didn’t stabilize mine and most of mine were cotton, but if I were to make it with mostly stretchy fabric I would use stabilizer. I don’t have a video on that process but my friend Sean from The Guy Who Sews does. He has a great tutorial on this. I hope this helps you, please tell him I sent you over if you do. So I’ll say for me, I don’t always and they are fine but the majority of fabric has been some sort of cotton. If I were to do it lots of stretchy I would add stabilizer to it. Hope this helps❤️😊

Fun Quilt! Q:: since you are using Layer Cakes as well...why did you not cut your squares 5 inches, instead of 4.5 inches? That Potato Chip Block would be a great quilt block to use for I Spy Quilt as well... but you would need to buy small scale fabrics...as I think one needs to do in any case, when making an I Spy quilt.

@@DH-qz2so Well, my daughter wanted me to use like 3 inch blocks and I talked her into 4 1/2 she thought 5 inches were just too big for look that she wanted.
