I don't have an extra half hour today, could someone just give me the time stamp just for the transistor value, and what pin or pins to solder led/transistor to.

Gee - ever wonder what your buying online - my thought is this - with the amount of work put into it - is what you paid - getting you your money's worth - case in point - a harbor freight Firemans axe - less than 20 - but I buy a finished detailed look alike online and pay 50 plus the ship - but when I compare the measurements are the same and the giveaway - red paint on the underside of the redone axe - and I think okay - it took a lot of work to do this - so I was happy - likewise - with this chisel here - I wish I had the tools - but can come close - and not to sell - just to do - not to have a working chisel mind you - because the joy is in the redoing and the bringing back to life - and restoring -sort of like when we die and the soul goes forth and comes back as something different in another realm or dimension or universe - the joy or real work is the restoring or the tool - for some that is the work - the story of the potter's wheel - not so much what the finished project will look like but the fact that the project learns to enjoy the feel of the potters hands on it as it works with it - no matter what the final item is supposed to look like - thank you for making this video - well done and teaches above all the art of patience.

Hey Rob, what bass are you using and what pick ups are installed on it? Sounds amazing!
@RobMods6 күн бұрын
Thanks mate. Yes this is a great bass. It's an 80's Maton JB4. Bridge pickup is the original Dimarzio, neck is an alnico P pickup I wound. It is underwound. 8k ohms from memory.

Also can you share the link to the primer… ? Thanks
@hiteshmamgain22019 күн бұрын
What is the primer pen used for ?? Does it remove the previous glue or just roughs the surface?
@RobMods6 күн бұрын
The primer is some sort of solvent. It seems to dull most plastics as it dries. I've never seen it sold separately. It comes with two local products; selleys "all plastics" and loctite "all plastics". These days the sellys one comes with a different glue, not a CA. So I usually buy the loctite because I'll use the glue. The primer pen that comes with the loctite is labled "activator", but it is not a CA accelerator. It is indeed a priming fluid. (I spoke to one of their techs about it years ago).

Sure if you want your canvas to be the same as Marcus, it's simple. An Ash jazz bass with maple board, Fatbeams, 70's pup spacing and a TCT. The only thing missing is the biggest part, Marcus. A canvas is nothing without his chops.

Great job. The other mod that would be worth doing would be a dry kill footswitch. Being able to sweep the LPF via an expression pedal would be cool too.

Best explanation of noisy pickups I've seen. Essentially, the transference of hum from the body to the circuitry is via an electrostatic route. It's often discussed as though it was electromagnetic.

Excellent video, excellent method, thanks for sharing it. Tip for removing seized screws BEFORE it breaks: drill out head with left-hand twist drill bit. It’s a thing and they can be bought. Run the drill in reverse, the vibration, heat and reduction of material will cause the drill bit to actually extract the screw. I have had a 100% success rate removing seized screws like this. I learned that in aviation mechanics.

Yes I've enjoyed watching, Recently I've installed a artec pbass neck pickup and a jazz bass bridge pickup to my first project jazzbass, moment of truth, ived plug it in, to see what's the results,, turn each volume and tone , there a hum, but when I accidentally touched the pole piece of the pickups.. owww much disgusting hum, and I think I need to try reverse it's wiring.. I've done everything.. nothing works.maybe this is my last hope.thats why I need to say this ..thanks a lot sir
@RobMods2 ай бұрын
The coils in a P bass pickup are wired in series, so it's impossible to have both with their inner windings to earth. So one coil will always hum when touched. So if wired correctly, one coil will be quiet when touched, the other will hum a little bit. I have my P bass with the quiet coil on the E/A side since this is where my thumb often brushes the pole pieces.

What about 9volt 'phantom power'? Since an active instrument must be plugged in, why not power the preamp with 9volt dc phantom power like condenser mics are powered everywhere?
@RobMods2 ай бұрын
This has been done. I'm pretty sure EMG have or had a system that did that. And probably one or two other companies. I designed a buffer in a phono plug many years ago that was powered by an offboard 9V. And I've made quite a few P48 powered devices over the years. I think the reason it hasn't become more common is that 9V batts are cheap and in most cases, they last for many months, even years in most active guitars.
@vanhap2 ай бұрын
@@RobMods Or maybe we could use a TRS with phantom 48v power 'resister'd' down to 9volt in the guitar electronics cavity. Be a great upgrade to never need to worry about a battery dying.
