Great video, how did you find the stopovers for facilities? Waste disposal, water top up and empty, electric hook up etc?
@TheseWildJourneys20 күн бұрын
Quite easy for facilities! We used Findhorn (not shown in this video) for the start of our trip for water and dump, they have a beach side Aire. And then we had a few other stopovers along the coast, all at reasonable prices, between 15-20 quid shown in the video. We used Searchforsites and Park4Night to find spots

Love following your travels. Can you ‘do’ Cornwall without doing single track roads? I got freaked out on some tiny Somerset roads earlier this year in car… I dread to think what I’ll be like when we pick up our new campervan in March. 😬😬
@TheseWildJourneys26 күн бұрын
Haha yes you can, but my biggest advice is - do not just blindly follow Google maps! We had a "fun" first few days when Google would take us down these crazy tight Cornish roads, before we started to double check the route it tried to take us down. Tintagel was a bit tight, but only for a little bit. But for Gwithian, Praa Sands and Treen* it was mostly fine and along a -roads. I wouldn't want to do it in peak summer though! 😂 Bet you're excited to pick up the van in March! (*Apart from the final part into Treen village, but double Decker buses go down it, so it wasn't too bad, just a bit steep!)

I've avoided Cornwall for years due to the crowds and lack of love for camper vans, but your video has very much awakened my interest in returning. Thx.

Hiya both. Just found you and subbed. How easy was it to travel on the ferry with Frank? We want to do it with our two collies, Nab and Bay next year. Also, whats the minimum amount of time you think we should allow to see a good chunk of the Shetlands? Keith only gets a max of two weeks holiday off work at one go but we are trying to persuade his boss to let him tag two weeks of unpaid leave on top of it. Thanks.
@TheseWildJourneys25 күн бұрын
Hey! Apologies for the delayed response. It was OK for Frank. We booked a dog cabin 3 months in advance. He can't go anywhere else apart from the cabin and the deck. But that worked for us as it was only an overnight ferry. There are kennel options too. But I think they're quite standard/no thrills. Re. Timings - we spent about a week and a half there, which felt like a good amount of time to see the main sights. Although I'm sure if you had longer you could see and do even more, particularly if you want to try and see the Orcas. We just missed them! The Internet is really quick on the island, if remote working is an option!

No worries! It was a year and a bit ago, so I can't remember the specific spots without rewatching, but I do remember that the cable car/gondola parks were always a good find, as they're huge, in the middle of nowhere and it was fine to camp for free 👌 and the Tre Cime spot was super expensive, but worth it!

We are lucky to live on the NE250 and absolutely love the area which is thankfully not a tourist destination like the NC500. We rarely go to the west coast now, just a few times a year when the weather is nice. It’s much nicer living on the NE side, no midges, better weather and no or few tourists. Seems to be more popular with the Scots, Germans and Dutch than the English. There is a little bit of everything in Moray and Aberdeenshire, but the headlines will always be the West Coast which suits our quiet life just right. Thanks for sharing, we too have a BT🙏
