I just wonder, what is the point of using straps during clean and jerk? Snatching i understand. I can see clearly he's strong enough to clean without straps no problem, i just wonder why he uses them.

Interesting. Some school of thoughts are against the pre-activation of lats in the starting position. But I see how this can optimally put the shoulder in a position to pull under the bar. Thanks for sharing!

Maher Alsayid depends on what’s happening. Typically, the problem starts when lifters lower the weight into the hang start position. The bar moves forward, around the knees. The lifter is comfortable in that start position, but the weight is too far forward, which causes problems for the remainder of the lift.

Would advise to never use straps for cleans. And if you were to use straps and you had to give them slack you would defeat the object anyway of having a solid grip. having your arms closer together gives you a lot more purchase with your hook grip, whereas with the snatch grip more weight, you can use straps without ripping your wrist clean off your arm
