Will this happen to all figures with softer plastic/rubber and cloth parts?
@Virtualfantasy1999
@Virtualfantasy1999 3 күн бұрын
Quite a few comments are failing to realize this really has nothing to do with the item being sealed the parts of this item that are peeling are synthetic leather which is a plastic with a canvas backing the adhesive will fail in 1-5 years reguardless of how well the item is stored. This process is known as hydrolysis and if you are a collector use your items they cannot be saved.

HELLO FRIEND! HAVE YOU EVER TRIED TO PAINT ANY OVERCOVER WITH BROWN GREASE? DO YOU THINK IT COULD WORK WITH BANE'S JACKET AND JONH MCCLANE'S JACKET? YOU WON ANOTHER WRITING!
@biginjapanminiatures
@biginjapanminiatures 3 күн бұрын
Hello! I've never used brown grease, but the process is the same. The process is quite simple: remove all the synthetic coating, wash, apply three coats of brown acrylic paint, let it dry well, and finally, apply shoe polish at least three times, just like you would with shoes. Thank you for watching my journey in this restoration!!

I love this figure! It remains to be one of my fav military/hot toys in my collection.. that head still looks as cool as ever. Did you know it’s based on Val Kilmer? It also looks a lot like the special forces cowboy ( Afghanistan ) which i reckon was the inspiration. Thanks for the video on this oldie but goodie figure !!

friend, this can't be compared to the original, this is much worse, there is glue everywhere, in the original there are rivets, the stitching is small, everything is stitched according to its size, as for a person, the stitching would be 100mm

Of course. Hence the title "restored", it is meant for an attempt to restore an aged figure, not to exactly replicate it.

Exactly, modesty aside, I did better than Hot Toys. I researched the character and the materials used in the movie. At least I'm sure that the tactical belt and pants won't crack over time anymore. Thanks for watching!

I won’t be around much longer either. The figure has been handled long enough to restore it. Nothing lasts forever, and life is too short to worry about a figure made of plastic, rubber, and bits of fabric. Enjoy life, enjoy your figures in the best way possible, pose them, play with them, and live in the moment. All of this is fleeting, and we will all turn to dust soon enough. Thank you for watching.

This is pure art. Who doesn't think it's ART? After seeing all this video, who thinks that only drawing, painting, or a sculpture is art? Definitely, all that this guy (artist) just did is ART, that is, period. Congratulations to the ARTIST.

Great job. But it's a shame for all the Hot Toys buyers when you see those leather accessories just crumbling. In the end you have no other choice to have certain skills to recreate them.

I've used black acrylic paint (without wax) to resurface the pads on my headphones that had fake leather that disintegrated. You need to remove ALL the foam crumbs or it will peel off again.
