Amazing playlists you have, you literally did everything I wish I could do. As a trained mechanical/structural engineer but stuck in a semi-tech job, I should start doing some practical projects...

Looking good and definitely going to follow your build. We are going to sell and move 90 miles away. It will be a small house, just 900 +sq ft footprint, walkout basement w/ loft 12/12 pitch over half of the main level. Walkout basement is block wall so contemplating lp smart siding... no osb needed but with the wildfire risk that we have in so. Oregon maybe cement siding with osb. It may be really wise to go with metal siding along with our metal roof. Every year itseems to get drier out here.😢

@@JimSperanza I appreciate your offer, you seem well rounded with attention to detail and willing to help. Not sure where, some wood heat with some solar are our thoughts. Cooling and some heating with a ductless system on all 3 elevations is the plan. 4200 elevation in S.Or.

Sincere, honest question. Not trying to be a smart aleck. If it only have three zones, how do you heat the rest of the house. For example, let’s say I have a three bedroom that this boiler services, how would you heat the living areas?

A pump truck is an added expense that one hates to add... but it had recently rained on your backfill and trying to chute pour that slab could have been a long day. Wise decision to pump it.😊

It was worth every penny! $1500 saved a lot of potential headaches and saved my guys a lot of work. It also worked great for filling the footers quickly.

DID YOU INSTALL FOOTER DRAINS? AND WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH RAIN SPOUTS?
@JimSperanza
@JimSperanza 20 күн бұрын
No footer drains and the foundation and footer are raised up about 2 feet from the surrounding grade. Rain spouts will be ran into 4 inch piping and into the nearby drainage ditch.

@hddoug72 that backhoe attachment is also great. It can definitely do small digging jobs here and there but I mostly use it for moving trees and brush. It will pick up 12 inch diameter logs 50 foot long no problem. I'm highly impressed. Worth every penny.

Does anyone else have a problem with a small thread burr sticking out, every once in awhile. I bought the unit and the dies were already in it for 3/8”, which I’m cutting. I’m just wondering if the dies are installed correctly or not sharp enough. It’s a new unit and it’s not consistent with the burr. Just looking for ideas to try.

Excellent video. Thank you. Is mixing valve needed for TILED (PEX inside the mud job) in floor radiant heat? Or is it only applicable for under hardwood floors?
@JimSperanza
@JimSperanza Ай бұрын
You don't want the floor surface temp to go above 85 degrees. You can run an max of about 125 degree water supply to the floor to achieve this. If this is the only zone on the boiler you can just adjust the boiler supply temp and you won't need a mixing valve.

Hey! Nice work! Seems like the house is facing straight south, if I’m right could you tell me how you feel the heat in june to august? As I noticed , it seems like your south window openings have been managed accordingly. Tks for sharing.

The back of the house with the 3 sliding doors face east. It makes for amazing surises while laying in bed in the morning. Proper insulation and window glass will make a huge difference depending on your needs.

@@JimSperanza makes sense ! I’m on the brink of a similar construction after having elaborated different house designs, the mono-pitched design always made its way up on the podium on many battles. One thing I’m not quite sure since my high side wall face will be facing straight south (great passive heat collection during winter season but…), I wonder how much should I limit my window openings in order to avoid an oven effect during the summer (sticking to the passive house concept as much as possible - no cooling supply ideally) It is a no brainer for the south face windows to get high quality triple argon glass. How much consideration should I give to this topic ..? I believe that it is crucial at my latitude 🇨🇦 / 🇺🇸 border.

Looks really good, I’m 21, a 3rd year apprentice service plumber trying to get into this type of new construction, heat designing once I get my ticket. I live in British Columbia Canada, and BCIT, offers a Hydronic Heating program which I may take, but I’m interested to get into the field and work on these types of new/custom homes the most. Any suggestions on how to get started or prepare? I’m in service right now and really enjoy it. Just thinking of the next steps.
