Wow. This is fabulous information. I’ve never used a laser cutter and had no clue of their use. I have been poking around ….looking for the type of laser that could fit my craft cutting ideas . Mainly door hangers. But, now, everything is flying through my brain. I’m thinking, only 1/4” birch , nothing more than 3/4” plywood for signs. Any recommendations? I was thinking of the Nova , for unlimited work.
@computercreationz2 күн бұрын
Don't be fooled cutting 3/4" ply is painful with a laser. Yes it can be done but it's very slow even with a large 130 way co2 laser. 1/4 to 3/8c is much more realistic. Just like everything else there is no prefect laser what a high wattage laser does well (cutting) it only does solo for engraving and visa versa. I find the 100 watt co2 Nova is a great combo or the New 60 watt Rf tubed laser from Thunder seem to be a great option!

Im not 100% certain but if i had to guess why the settings dont work for an image is because the variable text shows the settings for the text layer ans an image cannot have modifiable text. The workaround you use is a great option though.

Your videos are my go-to, and now I've got a real dilemma. I put in a new tube a month ago and everything was fine, but all of a sudden I started getting weird angled cuts. So, here's what I did - check the lens. Clean. Do an alignment of mirrors following this video, and here's where things fall apart. The first bit of tape I use for testing Y front and Y back? They're not hitting in the same spot. When I align the red dot to where the beam hits at Y Back and then run it forward, the beam is no where near the center. No amount of alignment from that point works because I can't get the Y front and Y back beam to hit in the same spot. I tested the gantry and it's square to the front on the left and right side... not sure how to check the X axis, though. Thoughts? Thank you!
@computercreationz4 күн бұрын
it sounds like your gantry is not square. if it’s not you will never get it to align in all 4 corners. look up on.how to,square your gantry, once squared then do your alignment

Please excuse my ignorance but I am fairly new to co2 lasers (Omtech 60 watt) and I'm very curious about the extended lens you are using. What advantages do the extended lens offer? Love all your videos and your teaching methods are top drawer.
@computercreationz7 күн бұрын
That is a regular co2 lens but from American Photonics. A major retailer of all laser lenses. its just longer than most but does the same function

I’ve been looking to upgrade (getting a secondary machine) that’s better than my current (Omtech 80w cO2) so far Thunder and Aeon are the 2 choices but may go to Aeon Experience in FL 1st to test out other models/manufacturers. Great video on this brand!
@computercreationz4 күн бұрын
Thunder’s wiring layout and wire marking is head and shoulders better than Aeon. look under the hood of both before you buy.

After replacing my tube, I've noticed all the cut edges on my parts have a slight angle now. I've cleaned mirrors and lens, but I'm thinking it's gotta be the laser is shooting down at the wood at a slight angle due to the beam not starting at the right spot. Am I thinking right that this is a mirror alignment issue?
@computercreationz11 күн бұрын
Yes that would be your 3rd mirror that shoots the laser beam down. Best way to align that is to shoot it into a 1/2” piece of acrylic. If you have a Thunder nova just make sure the laser beam is in the middle of the nose cone on the lens

Can you change fonts and size in Lightburn? Variable Data is a must if you are personalizing. I worked in the promotional decorating industry and during this time of year a lot of customers will request this and it is such a time saver.

Yes it uses the the font s that are on your operating system. You can change size as well but this is NOT dynamic. It’s set in the variable text feature

I just leave my bonding plug in the outlet on the inverter generator. My Williamson boiler was not happy without it. It would actually ignite for a few seconds and then shut down. Something to do with the flame sense circuitry.

Good morning Robert. Just a recommendation concerning Northwest Branded Digital files. After purchasing ask if the “BG”(I think that’s background) is removed from files. Especially when doing slate/marble, as it looks like your graphic is in fog. I had done 2 different projects before I asked her about the issue. (Still new to lasting). Denise quickly responded and resent the files with “BG” removed.

Important to point out that this info applies to furnace motors that are not hard wired into the house. Also, the majority of small generators are bonded so you can plug the furnace cord into the generator without any adapters. All generators should indicate on the front panel whether it has a floating or bonded neutral. If you don't know for sure, contact your manufacturer.

What scrolling button were you pushing to have the laser run along the bottom of the lettering? it looked like it was stopping at all the points. was it just the arrow keys in the "move" tab?

Does the laser beam only engrave onto the blue tape or go all the way through the tape and into the tumbler surface? Sounds like a great way to test the 360 wrap and matchup from start to finish. Is that what you are doing here?
@computercreationzАй бұрын
The laser does not penetrate the tape due to,a low power setting, that way you can dial in your setting without the rest of damaging the tumbler

Very helpful video! I’m comparing the different bolts now. For your business, do you feel the regular bolt holds you back in any way compared to the plus or pro?
@computercreationzАй бұрын
Having had both the bolt and bolt pro 22 the bolt pro series is allot faster and has greater acceleration. It’s cut my tumbler engraving time by about 30%. The extra bed space has been awesome. The move up to the pro series has its advantages if you do allot of production and time is money.

Thanks. The mindset of these lasers has been driving me nuts. I've seen people just throwing material in, cutting a border so it's square and calling it a day. Setting up jigs and fixtures just doesn't seem to occur to people, so I'm very happy to see such a reasonable and expedient way of getting as much accuracy as I can really expect to need. Did you print those clamps yourself or buy them? Securing the jig (and the grate) is another thing I'd like to add to my machine.
