Dan you ever read Esa Merilainen work on “current” drive? If so, you fooled around with it?

I had not read Esa Merilainen's work before now. There appears to be fresh debate about these ideas. Interesting.

hi Dan. this sounds like music to my ears 😊.. excuse my ignorance.. this is the first time i hear about an Analog Bridge. i have a question tho: i'm Bi-Amping my speakers with a solid state for the lower Base and Tube Amp for the upper Mid range and Tweeter (yes. hitting two birds with one stone 😉) .. is it a good idea to get an Analog Bridge for my System ???.. thank you
@stephenbrickwood514814 күн бұрын
I like the look and would love to give one a go in my system, problem I have is that I am handicapped in the budget department quite possibly like many others. Is there a cheaper alternative to achieve something similar? I’m sure someone mentioned the Little Dot mk2 which is all tubes and can be added in a similar fashion…..?
@onemic-theminimalist14 күн бұрын
It doesn't add distortion? Please explain where the "tonality" comes from if it is not from tube distortion.

Guess what, even solid state equipment has distortion. So why not choose one that your ears actually agree with
@onemic-theminimalist6 күн бұрын

Shame to install heatsinks internally... Seems inefficient to build then disassemble to add the fascia. Cant you install it first and wrap for protection during assembly? No power drivers? All hand twiddling? Idk No wonder its expensive 😅
@ModWrightInstruments17 күн бұрын
This is an older design and I have revised our newer designs in numerous ways, both to make building more efficient and to increase cooling efficiency. Our next amp will feature largely exposed heatsinks, twice the power and twice the power supply capacity (2KVA). It will be more expensive. Thanks.

It's nice to see proper engineering and top class construction. A manufacturer who does things right is not ashamed but instead proud to show off the insides. And also top marks for not following the rather ridiculous fashion of putting vacuum tubes on the outside of the equipment where they are both a hazard and prone to picking up noise.

I've been using these in two different systems for the last six months. These are excellent amplifiers with a unique sound signature. It sounds like a cliché, but they do combine the best of tube and solid state characteristics. They are on the same level of quality as my PS Audio M1200 mono blocks and Luxman m700u amps. I hope these develop the recognition they deserve.

How do you think they would do driving Magico A5s with Backert Labs Rythmn pre?
@ModWrightInstruments2 ай бұрын
I do know of a customer with with M3's I believe it is, that told me he feels the KWA 99's to be the 'Holy Grail' of amplifiers, in that they offer resolutions without edge and warmth without lacking detail. I consider this a tremendous complement, as that is exactly how I would describe our house sound! I use them with Revel and Magnepans and also have very happy Magico and Wilson customers. They are a high current design. I have heard good things about the Backert Labs preamps and would see no reason why it would not match extremely well in your system. Please don't hesitate to contact us for more information.
