"Enigmatic" describes "Jules," more so than the Heptopoids of "Arrival" (2016), and is a great sounding board for these often ignored "tribal elders." I saw it listed on Showtime, and it makes "Showing Up" (2023) look static, by comparison. It's a slow-burner, but the themes addressed "stay in your mind after the projector goes dark," just like a good/great foreign language film.;)

Yes she doesn't talk before or after the concert for this tour. Because it is over three hours. Usually she has free meet and greets at previous concerts.

I agree . This just didn’t work for me either The cinematography of Italy was great, and the atmosphere of the storm was great. The characters, though, were pretty boring with not much depth, and the horror scenes were just too little for what they advertised. I got bored with the pacing and just didn’t care too much for the reveal.
@Distantcritics
@Distantcritics 7 ай бұрын
definitely! the pacing for me is the biggest..I kept finding myself saying can we get on with itttt, which sucks because then it takes you out of the current moment. .This was for sure a let down to me

They didn't set up a mother daughter movie, they set up a Barbie movie. Barbie was connected with the mom, all of Barbies new and imperfect feelings were because the mom was experiencing that as a human and expressing herself with Barbie. The mother daughter situation was a subplot that they tied in a bow when A) the daughter realizes it's okay to open yourself up and express yourself and b) she acknowledges her mom for being awesome. That story never felt like it was supposed to take center stage because it's a movie about BARBIE. Mattel building being real? Ed they literally travelled to barbieland with rollerblades. It was supposed to be a symbol. Soulless corporate building making money off kids only caring about money with endless same looking hallways and rooms and a shit town of the same nameless identical corporate workers (note the FBI building looked EXACTLY the same) The CEO didn't need barbie back in barbieland, he needed her to stop being self aware and sit down and be back to herself. He literally tried to physically restrain her and put her back into the box 'she belongs in' and if that isn't a beautiful metaphor for so many things you're wild. The skating to barbieland is the funny haha joke, the movie is wayyyy too self aware with how bubblegum corny and over the top it is. The barbieland travel were some actual barbie sets and I thought it was really cool/funny. I feel like you missed the barbie creators words. The movie wasn't men vs women. It was about how hard it is to exist. How hard it is to exist as a man, a woman and even as a doll of you're not perfect. And even if you are perfect , people STILL find a way to criticize you. The movie displayed barbieland as a woman utopia in the beginning but even barbie has no clue or care for the Ken's. They're just objects , it's about Barbies, Barbies have fun, it's barbie sets. Then the pendulum swings soooo hard in the opposite direction to the Kendom where he steals everything the Barbies have and dudes it out. (MojoDojo Casa House is a fire name). In the real world both men and women are under sommuch damn pressure to play their roles. To be Beach Ken or Stereotypical Barbie, but as barbie realizes that's not what life is about. Just existing is magical. Getting old is beautiful. The human experience is wonderful. Going to the gynecologist is an adventure 🤣. That all built up throughout the movie, you just have to get past getting Blasted by all things pink and girly.
