Some of these chains still exit. There are Bob’s all over the South, leftovers from one of the franchisees Firsch’s. There are also scattered Shoney’s and Sizzler. We hav eaten at two Sizzlers as recently as this summer. One in Flagstaff, AZ and one in Cedar City, UT. Both seem to stick to ll the same branding, traditions and foundations of their menu. Noteworthy is that both of these locations are sort of the top end of a Sizzlers, well maintained, clean, great staff etc. And Firsch’s Big Boy has the Bob, out front, the same menu (with one exception) and the same format and loot. there are at least 50 of these, maybe more. They offer a local sauce that is just tartar sauce, but on a burger (yuck) but otherwise its the same as all the old Bobs, JBs and Junior Bobs.

Sambos was closed because of ignorant misinformed racists.

I remember around 1974 you could buy a 15 inch single topping pizza at Shakeys for less than $4.00 and you got to watch them hand makeI and spin the dough without dropping it.

A&W was the last restaurant I remember that brought your food out to your car by a deliverer wearing roller skates😳😁

Well this wasn't very well research especially burger chief. Cleveland Tennessee still has one and it has been open since 68 and is not a knock off it is original. Just saying.

I miss cafeteria restaurants like Morrisons, Piccadilly, and Luby’s. They had really good tasting food…..kinda like eating at grandmas house!

Shakey’s was so great! They’d put marshmallows on your birthday pizza, if you were a kid. I loved it for some very strange reason. Haha! Howard Johnson’s was awesome too, with all their ice cream flavors.

I miss Bonanza, Sizzler, Ryans, Ponderosa, Piccadilly, and oddly Weiner King! They had the best footlong hotdogs and I loved their BBQ sandwiches! Shoney’s / Bobs Big Boy closed here due to covid and never reopened.

Miss: Henry's, York Steakhouse, Howard Johnson, Arthur Treachers, Burger Chef, Bonanza/ Ponderosa, Ryan's Steakhouse, Old Country Buffet, Showbiz Pizza.

There are still two Sizzlers in Salt Lake City, I like going to them for their Salad bar, Steak and Lobster, and toasted buttered bread, Mmmmm.

In Texas, it would be G.W. Jrs!!! They had the chili for their frankfurters. They're the best ever, even to this day, nothing comes close. They closed in 1985!
