So sad that you stopped youtube and the website is gone. I just found you recently and I love all the tutorials. You've really helped me learn a bit of blender and I was hoping to pick up some of your planet textures. Hope all is well with you and you'll be back at some point.

I don't see how bitdepth and raw will matter for someone who does VFX in After effects.

Hello Theo, how are you? Could you release the video about Octane Render - Procedure Materials on your patreon? I just made a plan but I can't see the class.

Can you also make a video on how you created these textures? This was the main part I was looking for, because it matters the most for the end result to be honest. Also, can you zoom in, in your node window next time? I cant read anything you do.

The link for the clouds doesn’t work
@alieninsectbass8 ай бұрын
*Hey guys, the Cloud node is now deprecated!* For those people wondering, in Houdini 20 and onwards, you have to use a Sphere (Polygons) and then use a VDB from Polygons node. Finally, in the VDB from Polygons node, uncheck Distance VDB and check Fog VDB. I think this is how it works now. Let me know if this works for y'all! EDIT: An even better way I discovered is instead of using a sphere, you use the Cloud Shape Generate, then use a VDB from Particles node. The unchecking Distance VDB step and checking Fog VDB step are the same. Hope this helps!

now that its been 4 years. what do you think of apples modern products running octane. they sure are expensive but do they outperform other pc's at a lower price??

I'm really new to 3d so maybe this is a stupid question. Why is there a dark box around the planet in the viewport?
@dConceptdk9 ай бұрын
Render time is super important. I rendered an animation in vray, it took 10 hours pr. frame, so I looked for an alternative, it was fstorm, it took 10 min pr. frame and looked better right out of the box!

If you want your planet to look like the thumbnail planet, you can duplicate the cloud layer & turn it to emissive

Anyone know how to make the surface material seamless? I get distortion at the top and bottom of the sphere & a bad seam line all the way around the middle. I'm using the texture pack that THEO is using, but not getting the same results using Sphere projection on the material. It's quite stretched.
@jayhawk184 Жыл бұрын
try this apply the scale to the sphere and then go edit mode select all with "A" then press "U" to unwrap choose spherical projection.
