@NorthernCarpDiaries17 күн бұрын
Hi Michael, We took the Ferry from Portsmouth to St Malo, and then the rest truthfully was on the Sat Nav, It was a little hard to find the lake truthfully when we got into the small village but theres an ALDI/LIDL about a mile down the road, so when you hit that your not far away at all, If memory serves me right, the fella sent us some more detail directions closer to the time. Bait wise we took our own, we did a whole segment on bait in this video, so hopefully this may help you out.

P.s have you, or is there any other shots of carp caught from here" (!?) Any 'feedback' gratefully received. Kind Regards Paul.
@NorthernCarpDiaries8 ай бұрын
Hi Paul, Many thanks for the comment, it is an ex trout water, but I don't believe any dye has been added, the colour comes from the huge amount of peat soil we have in this area, the venue itself has a publicity ban on so you probably wont find any other photos, the video series here I did was given permission as long as I never gave away its location. :)

Hi all, I’ve fished all over France at a lot of locations and I can safely say Deer Park is one location I would love to go back to. 3 of us went to the Deer Park in March a few years ago and had the around 20 really nice fish between us despite the weather at the beginning of the week being in the low 20s and the end of the week near zero and snowing. That said we caught in all temps and have some nice pics in the snow. Fishing is fishing and I’ve been back to a location we had over 50 fish in a week including 2 x 50s and numerous 30s and 40s and the next time we went we had 1 fish all week. Our best out of Deer Park was 46 and most were over 30. Unfortunate you didn’t find the bigger fish but that’s life. I’ll be back at Deer Park in the next year or so.
@NorthernCarpDiaries8 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment Ian, really glad you've managed to get amongst those fish from Deer park over the years, I'm not sure if we just hit it at a bad time its hard to tell when we'd never been before as a comparison, but we all struggled to get those big ones out to be fair.

A big thank you for this guys. I watched it all in a single sitting. Congratulations on a great, informative film and excellent editing. It must have taken you weeks. Furthermore, thank you for not whinging all the way round. Relevant for us to know that it hurts. But glad you didnt make a drama out of a crisis. There is an underlying flow of ex army through the film. "Small gains", dont leave anyone behind. Sharing a double bed 😄 The understanding that its tough. But tab on. I really like the map explanation at the end of each day. That is very useful. Im very grateful to you. Well done on a first class job.
@NorthernCarpDiaries11 ай бұрын
Hi Steve, Honestly thank you so much for that comment! takes some doing to watch it in one sitting! we didn't intend for it to be a 5 hour video, but we just wanted to document our adventure as true as possible without trying to bore people but also include all of the relevant information. nNone of us have ever been in the army but we certainly have that brotherhood, theres no one I personally would have wanted to have done this with other than Matty, sometimes you just need that understanding of each other to truly appreciate the journey! you don't always need to speak to fill the silence, it just worked on every level for us both, and it made it a truly memorable adventure, some difficult moments we wont lie, and we tried to document both the highs and the lows at times, not low, but certainly not skirt over the difficult moments because it is a difficult walk. especially camping the whole route. Glad you found the map explanation helpful, we just thought that it could help anyone out who's potentially doing the route, as it doesn't matter if you do our itinerary or your own, explaining the hard sections and the best sections may help anyone out who's planning to do it. <3

Me and my mate booked this lake through majestic and was researching (after booking) and found this video. We were apprehensive, we were nervous and our first French adventure was coming quick with literally very little info apart from your video. We thought sod it, let's go and see how we got on. We both have a red letter week, smashing both our pb's with a gorgeous monster 54lb mirror. Weather was rainy and stormy with some sunshine and we treated ourselves and stayed in the cabin. You guys had a shocker and feel for you, but our experience was completely different and looking at returning next year for another go at deer park. I would love to see some more of these videos showing deer park in its full glory (not me 😂😂) take care, love the videos

Hello mate, Thank you for the feedback, Nice to hear you had a red letter week!! we knew the fish were in there, just couldn't catch them on. but nice to hear you had a great week! As lovely as the venue was I don't think we'll be returning anytime soon, nothing against the venue in any way and I'd like to return and try and settle the score, but there are sooo many incredible venues across all of France that we'd like to do some more videos on other venues too thus meaning Deer Park would have to wait for a return I think :) all the very best mate take care!

Hi guys, I just watched your adventure. Well done, guys, for making a great video. I'm looking at doing it my self maybe next year, what is the cost to do it
@NorthernCarpDiaries11 ай бұрын
Thank you for the comment Jamie, in terms of cost, there are lots of variables, we camped the whole way (we already had the kit) we took about £200 each in cash, just for honesty boxes, etc and we spent our last £10 in robin hoods bay, but this was just our adventure, we decided to pay £5 here and £10 there for camping pitches because they had toilet facilities rather than true wild camping, we also treated ourself to a meal and a drink along the route in pubs etc, so again you don't have to do that, its totally up to you, but we took £200 each and spent most of it (the other thing in our trip we did do, but kindly didn't pay for was the hotel stop in Richmond, my dad kindly paid for that for the 2 of us) In terms of recommending how much to take, it could be a long answer but hopefully this very brief explanation may help you somewhat! Hope you have a safe crossing! Best of luck! x
