How did you fixed Output SL_2_R defective? is the ony error I have in bimmerlink and I can't find a solution!
@BertskiZPolski7 сағат бұрын
If you clear an error and it returns, or it just doesn’t clear at all, it means it’s an active issue that should be looked into. For me most of my errors were due to a faulty tail light ground cable. Once I had that fixed my errors were permanently gone. Until I did, they kept returning. That code indicates one of your right rear lights has an issue. There SHOULD also be an error on your Idrive. You have to narrow down which light bulb. Activate all the lights until one flags on your Idrive as defective and you’ll have an answer. Taillight, brake, reverse, turn signal, fog light(this one is easy to miss as many don’t realize it exists. it also activates on very hard braking, look up brake force display).

Curious how much $ is a clutch service in a manual.

A new clutch is around $850 on FCP EURO. I would guess with labor around $1,500 at an indie shop. I’ve heard you can find the clutches for under $500, but I haven’t needed to replace mine so IDK.

@BertskiZPolski3 күн бұрын
ZF say around 50-60k miles, or around 100K km. “For life” doesn’t really mean for life. It really covers the 1st and 2nd owners who likely won’t even reach 100k miles. But long term the issues will surface. Logically it’s still a mechanical machine out under a lot of stress over it’s life, and the fluid will accrue metal shavings and become burnt over the years and miles. As I mention in the video, it’s 100% worth changing, unless you get the car with 100k miles on it and it’s never been changed, at which point it’s better to not touch it than risk dislodging gunk and clogging your valve bodies.

When someone totaled my car 2005 Subaru WRX STi that I had since new 5 years ago. Good thing I had a dash cam, and sent my insurance the dash cam video. They took care of everything. I didn't even go to court. The other insurance company just paid me out. A 2005 Subaru WRX STi with 32k miles on it for a 14 year old car and still was able to get $30k for it from the insurance was a good investment. I paid $38k after taxes and interest rates back in 2005 was super low, 0.9% for it. I'm cross shopping right now from a 2018 M2 to a 2019-2021 M2 Comp to an M4 and M4 CS. Can't wait to get it.

The whole point of the 240i is that it's a sleeper I have the m140i if I take the badge off you can't tell the difference from any other one series but under the bonnet is an absolute beast that's what I love about it. Giving the driver next to me the shock of his life😂. The M2 is built differently from the ground up from it's suspension components to the subframe are all connected directly to the chassis unlike the m240i which has bushings connecting it to the chassis giving it a more softer ride. For a M car BMW should have given it s55. Instead of the variants n55b30to.

Good video. I have an m240i rwd manual and was going to upgrade to an m2 comp but was really disappointed on the test drive. The m2 was just too crashy and fidgety on the crap UK roads. I needed the comfort / refinement of the m240i but have had to put an LSD, shocks, springs and bushes to make it handle the power properly. The mods haven’t impacted the comfort and for how I use it it’s the better car. Test drive both is what I’d say but if you do get an m240i it really does need handling mods so budget for that. If you can handle the ride go for the m2. Agree with you totally on looks, m2 looks so much better.

as an owner of an m240i in Connecticut, I love it but it always leaves more to be desired. B58 is one of the best engines ever made but without the wide body and poor tire fitment, the M240i is just one of the best handling gt car but not sports cars. M2 competition might be the sweet spot in the bmw lineup but the Mercedes 4.0 is distracting. Regardless the 240i is such a great car

Hey buddy, glad all turned out ok and the whole process is done and dusted. Very happy to live in EU, as I think in USA things like this can get quite a story.. I can really relate to this ‘it’s just a car’. I have a an M140i, very nice spec. But in the end cars are replaceable.. tires are so important! Getting them up to temp. But also Tyre choice…just good brands and replacing them on time. Sometimes it’s so tempting to just get another 1000miles out of them and in the end you end up in a trench in heavy rain, wishing you had replaced then with 4mm allready…
@BertskiZPolski23 күн бұрын
I really appreciate it! These things in the US can get ugly, but as most things it’s a process with an end. But yeah it definitely makes you look at tires differently with more respect. My problem now is my daily still has decent tread on the tires, but they’re just old and drive like hockey pucks. Fronts are 4 years old and the rears made it 8 years. It’s just time to replace them and be better off safe, than trying to make them last another year and have them lose grip when I need it. Really crappy thing to go through.

You didn't mention anything about maintenance costs. How much more is the M2 to maintain?
@BertskiZPolski25 күн бұрын
I have a video on the M240i’s 2 year costs, and a video on a major service on the M2 to give you an idea of some specific numbers. but overall about the same honestly. Basic services cost about the same on both cars. Transmission fluid/filter service is cheap on the manual but expensive on the ZF8, and even more expensive on the DCT. Spark plugs were about the same. I’ve had a few freak-issues on the M2 that cost some money to repair but it’s really not that bad. Overall as long as nothing major breaks, they’re about the same to maintain. Insurance was also a little cheaper on my M2 oddly enough. I’d go out on a limb and say in general most BMWs after 2015 are reliable enough that all they really need is basic maintenance, and the costs for specific services are fairly similar across similar models.
