This show was way advanced for its time, you really had to pay attention to catch everything , people were used to basic sitcoms like Mork and Mindy or The Jeffersons where you could just zone out and watch

This is the funniest show ever on American TV. Yet, it did not do well in ratings. Too many people need their comedy dumbed down, like The Dukes Of Hazard.

I read the reason this show didn't take off like it could have is because the viewer was required to give it their undivided attention in order to appreciate the humor. Most TV shows can normally still be enjoyed even if you don't watch or listen to every second of the show, but with Police Squad you have to watch as though you are at a movie theatre, staring at the screen constantly, listening to all that is being said.

It's a shame no one thought to try Peter Lupus (Nordberg) at comedy before this show, because he f-ing nailed it. It's even better having seen him as the stoic (nearly) silent strongman in Mission: Impossible and then discovering he had this in him the whole time.

The funniest TV show ever aired. It had me in stitches. I eagerly tuned in five weeks in a row and was absolutely floored when it was cancelled. Why cancel a brilliant show? Apparently, it was 'too' good. (For idiots maybe.)

I know it's really stupid but: "let's just say you were nowhere near the movies" ALL: "let's just say you were nowhere near the movies" - but funny 😶that kind of silly deadpan humor reminds me of Spike MIlligan and how he exploited it in Q6 etc.
