I've never thought of using El Pato instead of tomato sauce. How clever of you!! I don't put peas & carrots in my Mexican rice, or my Asian fried rice either. I don't like the flavor & I feel like it's just an inexpensive way to stretch the dish. Thank you for the recipe!

Hi Joe! How long do you let the rice dry before you brown it?

I have tried making Mex rice in the past and never worked. Too mushy. Your great technique says it all about how to make it just right. Thanks.
@DishingWithJoe
@DishingWithJoe Жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear that. If it’s mushy it’s because of Two things. Either too much water or not enough cooking time. Now, this has happened to me in the past. So, if you are seeing bubbling in the rice, then for about 5 to 7 minutes more. You can check it after that. If it’s too wet still then cook for another 5 minutes. It all depends on how much water you have in the pan. Just try adding water 1/2 inch to an inch above the rice. The rice should be ready in 15 minutes. Practice makes perfect. Good luck!

Wait! What I meant was the way I tried in 'past' was too mushy. The way you taught me how to make rice was perfect.@@DishingWithJoe

Extremely cruel recipe. Anyone who thinks eating the chopped up corpse of an animal that suffered horrific cruelty and was forced into a gas chamber before being hung up side down by their back legs to have their throats slashed open while still alive needs to really think about why they are paying for and causing such suffering and death of an innocent sentient being when they could easily choose something else to eat.

You overloaded your pot, so I’d wager you had more like boiled pork (no sear on your pork) and 0 seasoning on it to begin with!!!?? Not even salt or pepper??! Where’s the ancho chili power? The cumin? Mexican oregano? Cilantro, lime?Anything??! Water??! Chicken broth bro!! C’mon! Ok some salt at the end .. but still. To each their own I know.

Thanks for your in put. Just remember that it is made for those on a budget. Yes you are correct no seasoning before the chili. Don’t want it to be over salted. I do ask you to try cooking it my way and tell me what you think? Enjoy!

I would love to make this. You sure made it look (easy?) I know it isn't but you made it look that way. My ex sister in law used to make a variation of this. No heat. I like a LITTLE heat. So no jalapenos for me. Maybe some mild chilies. Thank you so much.

Looks delicious, Joe. I hope that you enjoyed that whole plate. I grew up in Southern California, so I had reliable sources for the best Mexican food around. but now that I've relocated to Pennsylvania, it's hard to find a good chile verde locally. I'm going to try this recipe. Thanks, Joe!
