As always these videos are fabulous! But I do have one question. When doing the install like this from the side, did you connect the positive post BEFORE you slide the battery into the tray? It would seem easier that way but I couldn’t quite tell.

First of all thanks for posting this video. I've noticed in this video as well as other videos and posts in various forums that folks are putting slightly larger jets than the original ones. But no one has explained why. Could you please shed some light on this. Thanks.
@heindlengineeringmotorcycle14 күн бұрын
@B_... the simple answer is the bike runs too lean and runs better with more fuel so larger jets are installed
@B_...14 күн бұрын
@@heindlengineeringmotorcycle Thanks for answering my question. So I'm guessing that this has something to do with altitude at which you are riding rather than a design issue.

No way! For the last two weeks, I've been digging through forums etc, trying different solutions, ordering adapters, sending them back and finally ending up with that exact cable. And just after finishing this journey, there comes this nifty 5 min video telling me all I would have needed to know :D Nonetheless thank you for the confirmation, this video is solid advice! The cable ("Goliton OBD2 OBDII Diagnostic Cable Adaptor 6 Pin to 16 Pin Compatible with Delphi Motorbike Motorcycle") works fine on my 2023.

2 cents worth of FWIW IMO OPINION (use at your risk) from the Pennsylvania Peanut Gallery. IMO as of 2024/07/04 Gen2 Urals are sketchy OBD Protocol K-Line KWP2000 - ISO 14230(-1/2/3/4). Some Code Readers/Fault Scanners may not recognize the Ural/Aracer protocol. My Innova 3140D and 5610 will not recognize my 2023 Gu's KWP2000 Protocol but Jon's Innova 3150B will. Generic Motopower MO69033 & MP69039 Code Reader/Scanners will recognize my 2023's Protocol -but- generic Code Readers/Scanners do not access deeper proprietary info like the Ural OBD Gen2 Kit. Generic Code Reader/Scanners should allow you to quickly ID a fault code and reset it if they connect. Pre-2019 EFI GEN1 Urals will probably be KWP2000 (usually European/Asian Euro5 Emission Standard) which uses at minimum 3 wires at the Diagnostic Connector: Battery, Chassis Ground and K-Line. (Ural owners manual includes a fantastic wiring diagram.) I have the dongle that Jon specified and it absolutely works. If your Code Reader/Scanner will not "connect" with said dongle check for pin-out continuity listed on the Amazon Webpage. A connection problem is probably Ural's/Aracer incompatibility with the Code Reader/Scanner and not the dongle.

This is cool, but what about the rond connector on a Sportsman 2018. Is there a cable?
@tyros576usa916 күн бұрын
IMO: Ron, your 2018 Gen1 is probably KWP2000 K-Line Protocol with an industry standard Diagnostic Connector "Round Connector" on your machine. However you'll have to do a good bit of research on "Motorcyle OBD Dongle" "Motorcyle OBD Cable" via Amazon, Ebay and the web to check your Ural's Diagnostic Connector to 16 pin OBD Connector configuration that Code Readers/Scanners utilize. If I am correct your owners manual wiring diagram should allow you to find your Diagnostic Connector's PInout for 12v, chassis ground and K-LIne and again, I cannot say for certain that your machine is KWP2000/K-Line Protocol but feel it is probable. I am providing aforementioned as an opinion and not a statement of fact.

Hey...long time watcher hoping to get your advice. You're the expert on Urals, in my opinion, and my dealer in Canada is useless and far away. I had a brand new 2024 engine replaced on my 2021 GU under warranty after a year of fighting. I noticed that there was an oil leak that's not coming from any bolts/seals near the gear box. I often hear that small oil leaks are par for the course for Urals, but I feel like this is an issue on a brand new engine. I replaced the oil after I broke it in, and noticed an improvement, but it's still leaking. Should I be concerned and go to my dealer to get it looked at, in your expert opinion? One day I hope to make a pilgrimage to your shop!

All depends on where one is geographically with altitude, but the typical good running range is 130 or so main and 42 pilot.
