The work is getting some confidence back. Waiting on the commander issues. Standard is dead on arrival in my state 😢 modern barley fires. Pioneer never , sadly commander is it im my area. Competitive formats no one wants to buy into it if they dont own cards. Afraid of bans red leyline killing anything left of standard localy no one wants to play paper red decks.

This is the beginning of the end for Commander. The only thing that can save it at this point is for the community to take back control of it.

Once again, was looking forward to the mics take on what happened this week (primarily a commander player myself). It’s always good to see what thoughts stick out when people are level headed. Glad we were able to cut through some of the bs about people selling their cards or whatever. Still apprehensive about wotc being in control of the format, but cautiously optimistic Best part of the episode was Rueben periodically interjecting with what he thought was the right restaurant, only to realize it wasn’t 😂. Love that Rueben mentioned ATLA and the 4 part finale 👌

The argument that everything that Wizards is doing is OK because cards keep selling and events keep selling out is getting tiresome. Wizards makes the game pieces required to play the game, so people pretty much have to buy them. That doesn't equate to good business practices that are in the best interests of their consumers.

I'm all for the Bans! These bans are for the better of the format, but i also think that if a group of people ban a few cards and value Tanks in the millions of dollars.. They shouldn't be surprised they are threatened and frankly im disappointed they have made any of it public. This is AMERICA, you don't get to lose people millions of bucks without consequences. Is it right, NO.. Is it the laws of nature.. YES

cEDH will always be EDH played at the highest competitive level. It has and will continue to follow the EDH banlist because that is the core of what cEDH is - showing that no matter what the EDH banlist is, we can find the best and most consistent way to win with what's available.

Since Power is also on CAG, I’d liketa put on record here that I completely agree that Rules Committee & Advisory Group r the toughest jobs in our EDH mega-circle. While I won’t die on the hill to defend your final decisions, I was always easily beyond the middle fence, on your side. U guys deserv all the props & absolutely NONE of the doxxing nor death threats. The unnamed $-grubbing top brass at Hasbro/WotC, however, haf none of that from me. They should b absolutely called out & those nasty threats pointd at ‘em. Wat crime? I was very eager to see your guys take on this. Everyone knew nadu was coming. Dockside hurts a bit, as red was super reliant on it. Lotus and crypt are more complicated. I feel like if it was just the first two, and then watchlisting the other two, we wouldn’t be in as bad a situation. I’ve said it in multiple different locations (I think the magic mics discord was one of them), but I’ll reiterate. The members of the RC are people, just like you and me. They won’t get everything right. But their trying to do what they feel is best for the format that we all enjoy. At the end of the day, it’s a game, that is supposed to be played for fun. Nothing about this warrants threats of violence. These are pieces of cardboard. I have a lotus and a dockside. Yes their lost value hurts (lotus I feel, especially, because it’s commander exclusivity). But is the loss of that $150 worth threatening violence?

These bans are another win for proxies. Im not losing a $200 piece of cardboard, just a 5 cent piece of paper.

It should have been reinforced to RULE 0. There is no point burning 127m usd in value overnight. Some people worked hard to get those and enjoy those after all the hype and push from WotC.

MTG players are leaving in droves from the bans

Here's my (un-asked for) take: 1) Nadu? MORE LIKE NA-DONT, AMIRITE? 2) Dockside Extortionist? Meh... a bummer, but not surprising. Dude was kinda busted. 3) Mana Crypt? Sucks, but I kinda get it. Fast mana is always a bit of a tricky thing to deal with, but I feel like this might have been a little much. 4) Jeweled Lotus: Why? I get it that it's an incredible card that facilitates some explosive things and is a fast mana piece, but it was *specifically* made for commander. It's useless outside of that format. Personally, I think the decisions are good, overall, but I just don't get the Jeweled Lotus part.

I, personally, cannot see anything positive in these bans. Any of them. I have been gritting my teeth and going along with their bans until now, but with these it is an easy decision to ignore not only these ones but most if not all of their previous ones as well. I get the feeling that the RC gauges experiences from a disgustingly toxic playgroup and if they assume that to be representative of the casual playerbase at large, sure, I guess these bans would be needed - along with the dozens and dozens still to come, I’m sure. However, frankly speaking, it is difficult to see these bans having anything to do with health of the format or giving anyone a better experience - barring maybe extremely lopsided cases with no interaction prior to gameplay like they keep claiming. Instead, it seems like an effort to take the casual nature out of the format completely and mold it into some sort of REL tournament format. Thus, at this point, the first rule zero question is whether people at the table care about what the RC says. People keep saying that the should be a separate banlist for cEDH, but to me that already exists and it is the one they are creating now. I don’t know if the cEDH crowd likes the list or not - I have never played cEDH nor do I ever intend to - but that is exactly the spirit of the game the RC is going for. I just hope they would have the integrity to be open about it. But to each their own. My playgroup and I have no interest in the competitive format they are creating, but I’m sure there are playgroups who think differently. So I wish you luck with it, it is a resounding no thank you from our side.

At the end of the day, Magic is an incredible social game and brings everyone together and we should always respect one another’s opinions.

There should be a “ Rule Zero “ list. A list of cards that if you wanna play these higher level spells a conversation should be have before to make affirmative an accord where all players are cool. “ Officially Banning “ a card adversely affects people’s financial interests and destroys their enthusiasm for collecting.
