For me it makes little sense that he didn't take Sun here when she knocked out. Also in the last episode when he knocks out Jack but doesn't kill him... I might have thought that he cant touch the candidates or something, but then he was fighting Jack on the rocks. Maybe someone can fill me in.

Ben had his character ups and downs, but never forget, He was a boy who was mistreated all his life because his mother died giving birth to him, only to go on to steal a woman's child shortly after birth... That means he can feel his own pain, but not the pain of others. He's self-centered and self-absorbed, and that's ultimately why he couldn't make it into the church yet in the final scene. Summary: nothing Ben did was shocking in the least.

Scene is incredible. BUT. I don't see how they are seen as anything more than a "Couple of CIRCUMSTANCE" Not CHOICE. Plus They got together later in the series and it was never fleshed out and shown how they grew to love one another.
