If this is modern day progress and development. You can keep it. I remember Basildon 50+ years ago. Truly an outstanding town centre then. Needs levelling and starting again. Absolutely no continuity in architecture and lacks any heart and soul.

I remember it all so well although it's nearly 50 years since I was there. I lived in Hugh Stewart Hall form 1975 to 1978. It hardly seems to have changed

When they're on the 27 April it's was absolutely freezing went for a family holiday definitely the wrong place to go
Lot empty shops & lot nail bars, Cosy cafe still open! Got food poison there. Is the Cinema open yet? Also see the Pie n Mash shop gone. Nice ending
@MENSA.lady2Ай бұрын
Yes the pie and mash shop has gone but only because the local authority indends to demolish the entire block and redevelop the site. So it's not all bad.

I was just there in London this past Dec. and walked that area. My friend lived in the far right building of the 4 with the slanted roofs seen at 0:20, the one to the extreme right was having cladding repaired due to the Grenfell Tower fire a few years before. Limehouse was nice, i took DLR back and forth to there from Tower HIll.

Remember this when I was a boy living here in the 1960s. Seem to remember that The Lord Denman was the Labour Exchange office, although I could be mistaken. Remember Woolies burning down in the 60s, Saturday morning pictures at the Odean nd the Church Elm pub rammed out with Ford Workers! Looks like the old girl sitting outside Lidl’s is reminiscing as well!

Oh man, this brings back memories from 2007 and 2008. Back then none of these buildings were there, it was just empty land.

70 years ago, my brother and I used to play on the abbey foundations. I also came here sometimes with my mother. Interesting to see it all again. The keeper told us all about the history of the abbey, he showed us 2 graves, that he said were the graves of 2 abbesses,
