If this is modern day progress and development. You can keep it. I remember Basildon 50+ years ago. Truly an outstanding town centre then. Needs levelling and starting again. Absolutely no continuity in architecture and lacks any heart and soul.

Lot empty shops & lot nail bars, Cosy cafe still open! Got food poison there. Is the Cinema open yet? Also see the Pie n Mash shop gone. Nice ending

Yes the pie and mash shop has gone but only because the local authority indends to demolish the entire block and redevelop the site. So it's not all bad.

The Cinema is a wasted venture, it hasn't opened since it was built and there is no information as to if it ever will, the town centre is a shadow of it's former self as is the town as a whole, basically the town has become run down with at least 45 -50% unemployment, local jobs for locals are rare and it is becoming overrun with immigrants who are part of this unemployed demographic. I grew up here as a child 5 -16 came back in 1998 after time in the military and the French Foreign Legion as well as needing to be back with the family, who have since departed their own ways and both parents deceased, I still live here but it is not the town I remember, frankly it is becoming a shithole! I live here because of a local woman I have settled down with otherwise I would disappear!!
