Swapping out an NVMe for another is easy if you don't mind reinstalling. Otherwise if you want to clone or data transfer you need an external NVMe caddy or a temporary drive to your current data when you swap the NVMe. You could use the SATA connector to put the temporary drive in this machine. Cloning is always tricky so if you don't have experience I'd suggest backing up data, swapping the part and reinstalling as much simpler and safer.

Solidworks normally requires a relatively modern system with dedicated graphics. This machine is now 5 years old. I'd recommend looking at lenovo P series laptops as these are more engineering focused. We did one recently for an architect who runs Autocad. A P14s 480GB/16GB with a T550 graphics built in. These are not cheap. The person who had this yoga does however look at 2D drawings of factories and alter plans as he's an electrical contractor, so depending on what you want to do the yoga is good for that. Doing 3D like in solidworks needs dedicated graphics in my view, as spinning 3D is very different to static 2D.

Nearly all the Lenovo business laptops have anti-glare screens, while still being super bright. Some consumer screens are shiny but we rarely see these now.

We filmed the video under bare florescent ceiling lights, in a room with white matt walls.

I would not recommend small form factor machines like this as gaming systems. The only time we have put graphics cards in are the super low-powered variants (GT710 etc) and then only for multi-screen use. Most small form factors like this have enough video outputs already so this is no longer necessary. The power supplies tend to be good quality but also difficult to get if they blow up, so don't overwork them.

Its a long time ago but this is an M2 SATA not a NVMe. Most modern drives need NVMe BIOS support which I believe this era of motherboard didnt have.

We have business customers still using these. Windows 10 has until october 25, so if the model you are looking at has that you are limited under current plans. These boxes run mint linux well but may be limited by Microsoft for windows 11 you need to check processor generation to use 11.

@@leejohann9469 That should upgrade to windows 11 pro. We have some with BIOS passwords and bitlocker so it should have a TPM if the same.

There is space for 2 drives in total and connectors on the board for anotherSATA, but you normally need to get a power splitter to power them.

Quite an old machine now. Customer has been using it for everything including viewing big CAD drawings for 4 years. Its prime attraction is the flip over to tablet mode. For lots of browsing I would recommend external monitors and mice with any laptop.

You press the button when it is all connected and on. Or use a paper clip uncurled to press the manual release which should go through a hole on the front of the DVD drive.

You need to have the header from the case plugged in to tjhe motherboard ARGP header, as well. Sorry if you've already done that but it should work if the LED panel is in the correct listening mode as i showed.

Sorry I don't know how to fix that. Maybe a driver for the rotation sensor?

Upd: i tried to fix it, just restarting computer for 10 times (I also turned off and turned on back the power unit) and it works, I don’t know how long this will work, maybe the next time I restart the computer nothing will work...

The customer who bought this still uses it as his day-to-day business machine. However, after 4 years most laptops get tired and bits start failing but as longevity goes this model seems quite good.

The kit supplied has multiple holes so will do many VESA mounts, please see in the video 1 minute in.

I did watch the video, that is why I asked. I can find vesa mounts everywhere but they do not have an "L" shape on one edge to allow for mounting the N4640G unit as the mount holes on the unit are on the side. I have also looked at lenovo and Nuc mounts but they are too small. I was just hoping for a " Yeah, there is has "v754f" or something stamped on it." That way I could try and find one searching by that number.

@@aaatmusic It seems you don't have the special mounts that come with the unit in its original packaging. I think you might have to DIY these to replicate them as its unlikely these are a spare part.

Hi Abo sorry I can't give general advice on all pc matters, You'll need to talk to someone local to you who can diagnose the problem.

A 2.5" goes on the left. The DVD is slim and does not have mounting points. We tend to swap the original main drive for SSDs in these machines. Bigger versions of these are now relatively cheap.

We ran a 100% load on a RTX3060 without it throttling, there's considerable airflow so I don't believe there will be a temperature problem. But we're not overclocking or running anything massive. The mesh top is another option and there are 3 fan positions we are not using.

The button on most cases controls RGB fans when the motherboard doesn't. Although options are usually more limited.

small form factor cases can be tricky due to the clips holding the front on or the hard drive/dvd mounts. We often spend a few minutes trying different things. Glad our vid helped.

Has NVME and M.2 wifi/bluetooth slot, I have one I am on now with a 1tb NVME. At 4:17 you can see the M.2 wifi on left, at 5:58 you will see the standoff for the NVME

I think there is a wifi slot on the board to the bottom left (under the SATA cables), there is no built in cabling so a USB or PCIe card for wifi would be better. I don't think this board supports NVMe. We have swapped the hard drive out for a SATA SSD in the past. The system's relatively old now 8th generation CPUs are 5 years old so modern slots were not common on the boards then.

These machines are not big enough for bigger GPUs. Small form factor is basically a design for office work.

@@theplayer4117 We've never done such upgrades. I'd not be confident in recommending this, the mother board is not designed for much current, it doesn't have big heatsinks etc.

Not sure. If its the same controller behind the button then it will. The case has a controller for its LEDs which then plugs in to the RGB controller on the motherboard.

This 3600G chip has been superseded now. The new 5600G chip has Vega7 graphics which although 7 instead of the 11 cores here, actually runs the same performance wise. Its still a good way to get a working starter gaming rig on a budget.

see 2mins 30 on the vid. There are one 16x and and one 1x PCI-E slots. But as its a small form factor theres not too much power so don't expect to use anything powerful.

Nearly all small form factor machines like these don't have enough to power video cards that require a power connector. You are stuck with power from the motherboard slot. This limits the card significantly and the card speed might not even be up to the speed of the on-chip graphics if you have a decent new processor. Check out www.videocardbenchmark.net/ Cooling for a bigger card would also likely be an issue and swapping the case over isn't really an option either. Small form factor machines are not designed to be upgraded in these ways.

If there is no software the motherboard probably does not have a rgb header either. So you need to buy a separate rgb fan controller. I think these work with a remote control, so might not give you all the same effects as software, but maybe some (breath, strobe etc). But the button options the case gives suffice many folks, without any other rgb control, we did the vid to show how to use a fancy rgb motherboard with the case if you really want all the flashy lighting.

Like many small form factor cases from major manufacturers its an OEM board. You should be able to get spares though as these are part of corporate refreshes so second hand board dealers usually have parts.

Good info Dunk. From my USB cheat sheet they are USB3.1, Gen 2 type A. at 10gb/s. USBs are usually backwardly compatible for slower devices, although we have seen some very old USB devices not work on newer ports although that might be software comparability rather than the hardware not working..

From memory there should be a cable from the button on top (which i press in the vid) which goes to the board. I don't think there is a second controller but its a long time ago since we did this.

It duplicates and extends the number of ports (external connections) a laptop has. Effectively you plug big monitors, printers, network cables, memory sticks, microphones etc in to the dock and with one connection to the laptop the laptop gets these devices. It saves plugging lots of things in and out of the laptop (cutting down wear and tear)and often adds capabilities like multiple monitors and multiple USB ports.

Most docks also charge the laptop as well, which means you can leave the charger in your bag or at home.

Its a 2230 sized one, unlikely to be the same on any machine you buy now. These are interchangable components to fit a spec.

Software is proprietary to the motherboard used. We used an Asrock board here with their RGB control software called polychrome.

This has space for one 3.5" in addition to a M.2 nvme drive and a dvd. Its a small form factor case so really not designed for many drives.

Hi Tal, I've just opened up a draco and can see the controller is just controlling the front LEDs. So its not really programmable in the same way as it doesn't connect to the motherboard.

@@focusred4526 If that software uses ARGB connectors, then it should work. The fans connect through that interface. We've only ever used software that is from the motherboard's manufacturer.

Its just a slot on the front. If somethings stuck in it you probably need to use tweezers to get stuff out or disconnect it and use an external reader instead
