It sounds like a good flight plan when you do NOT have to start all four engines while in the air. She's certainly a beauty with her proud tail.

I am told this particular example was the personal plane for Gen. Douglas MacArthur during the Korean War. I'll bet he flew home on it after being dismissed by President Truman.

So how many Super Cons are airworthy now ? When I was a wee lad in the 1950's these planes, as EC-121 or maybe it was RC-121 radar planes with the hump back and swollen belly (radar antenna housings), took off and landed at least twice a day from nearby McClellan AFB near Sacramento, California. We could hear them warming up at dawn and spot them flying low overhead on approach later in the day. My dad worked at McClellan in the F-100 division. Saw plenty of them roaring overhead, too.

Back in the 1960s, Selfridge Air National Guard base was about 10 miles away from where I grew up. The flew F106 as part of NORAD. They would fly super sonic and go boom boom, causing my mom have to rearrange all her little knickknacks in the China cabinet. And then they stop going supersonic, so no more boom boom. The next time I heard and saw two F106 go not just super sonic, but double super sonic in 1971 when my family along with a retired Lt. Colonel Air Force F4 pilot, when we all witnessed some kind of weird aerial phenomena over the Canadian side of the Lake Saint Clair. Selfridge dispatched two F106 that hauled ass full after burner the whole time to try and chase down some thing that was not of this Earth. I remember the Lt. Colonel looking at the phenomena and stating to my dad, "That is definitely not anything human made." The last time I heard a sonic boom, was three or four days after 9/11 2001, when 2 F15 flying BARCAP over the Chicago area when they raced to intercept an airliner out of Chicago O'Hare because of a disruptive passenger on board. That one's scared the crap out of us, thinking it was another suicide attack.

Sad that these magnificent aircraft ended up as targets on a range, instead of being preserved for posterity.

This is the slowest rocket ever seen and weird part is it’s going horizontal and it changed colors it like 2 different videos put them together. Normally it only takes about 4 minutes to be out of orbit And you won’t see it no more. This one was over 6 minutes you can still see it. 😮

My Dad was an FE on many connies. One on the things that the engineer did was to climb up on the wings to dip the fuel tanks. The idea was that you actually measured how much fuel was on board. Seeing this clip reminds me of that. Thank you for rekindling that memory.

How does getting clearance work for fighters? I know they set up airspace training zones but what if they get transported? Do they talk to atc for an ifr flight plan like the rest of us?

My joke about the two bombers is lost due to KZbin not having an education to comprehend simple words.
@Istandby66621 күн бұрын
It really sucks that you have to treat KZbin like a bunch of 4th graders. Supposedly they're against bullying and harassment, unless it's them.
@Istandby66621 күн бұрын
Obviously KZbin has no comprehension of simple words. The B-21 taking off, is like a little kid throwing a fit and running off. While the B-2 is a parent running after their child.
