Know this video has been up for a few years but thank you for taking the time to film. Great video and you are a real bloke. I like how you explained all your mistakes, your assumptions and errors. Then moved on. You also didn’t ramble and try to sell everything you touched. Mate, I do have one question; how much space do you have from the hoist columns to the back of the shed. And how much space do you have between the front of the car and the back of the shed?

Put a very similar looking 2-post lift in my new "shop" as we call them in America. Can't wait to actually use it. Thanks for sharing your experience! Question: why are Aussie sheds uninsulated metal? Seems it would get terribly warm, or cold. Or is it a building code thing?

Thanks for the vid. I have a BA ute and I was thinking about tub removal and putting a tray on, but liked the idea of a tub trailer since no one is doing them these days and scrapping the tub seemed wasteful. But I had no idea what to do about trailer frames, suspension or axles so your vid was very helpful for me to understand some key points. By the way nice holden coupe in the background?. LE or HQ monaro?

I bought a 100+ year old comfort potbellied stove that was in great condition but rusty, I just applied stove polish right over the rust.Its just carbon black and a soft wax. Use a damp cloth and it polishes to a high shine. it is fireproof and just needs to touch up every year or so. Barbecue paint will grey out .

Common problem on 308's with high km's on them, happened to me, the taping noise on my engine was the valve pushing the piston top down as the top separated from the rod and pin

As far as home wiring jobs go, yours is one of the better examples. You didnt use a vice or angle cutters to try and crimp the wires.. Only changes I would make is to use heat shrink instead of electrical tape, and expose a bit more of the wire going into the anderson pins,, (use heat shrink to secure the braided sheathing to the pins as well.. Over al, well done. (P.S. I am picky with wiring/crimping, as I an an RAAF trained Avionics Tech/Elec fitter of 50 odd years experience)
@TheShedSesh

Ahhh, yes, no room for not perfect in avionics. Thanks for the feedback mate. Next one 😉 I do love heat shrink.

Also, why did you decide to paint it instead of seasoning your stove?
@TheShedSesh
@TheShedSesh Жыл бұрын
Hey Laurie, as far as I know this is what you do with potbelly stoves. Without paint they will rust. A cast frypan can get away with seasoning but I wouldn’t have thought a potbelly would. I suppose they call the paint “potbelly black” for a reason 😊
@shadrach5681
@shadrach5681 Жыл бұрын
It can be heated up with a good hot fire and coated in bacon grease, tallow, or just crisco. The cast iron will soak it up just like a skillet. Apply with a paint brush. Reapply every once in a while. It'll be black and rust free. Also, no toxic fumes the first burn like paint.

any reason to not crimp the Anderson lugs in, done in like 30 seconds vs soldering? from what I've heard soldering can fail - at least when done DIY, so crimping would seem a better idea for DIY
@TheShedSesh
@TheShedSesh Жыл бұрын
Hey JB, you are correct. There are 2 camps with wiring. To solder and not to solder. Problem with the Anderson 50A pins is they are huge compared to the wire going in them so the crimp would have to be VERY good. If you were poking in a 50A wire then crimp all the way 👍
