I liked the shorter push bar too. Maybe it's because there's no padding on it, but the roll bar looks thin. I have the Vector SE wheels on my dark red 2001 Jeep Cherokee.

Love your General Lee, the driver side mirror is wrong, if you look at episode 2 of the first season called Daisy's Song, close up photo had a '68 interior in it!!! Remember, they did take '68 Chargers, and turned them into '69's!!! Mopar Nate Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

It's really nice to see the Georgia era General Lees, also I like to see Daisy's '74 Plymouth Roadrunner in the scene also!!! I was in Atlanta, when they filmed the 2nd episode of Dukes of Hazzard, I remember when Boss Hoggs' Caddy come flying around the corner!!! That was the only episode with the Cadillacs top is up!!! Your GL looks great, beautiful car. I've seen a lot of GL's and tv correct depends on the earlier or later years. You've done a great job making your car as correct as possible. I love seeing GL's owned by people like you who care to make their car as accurate as they possibly can. I love the early year GL's!!! Thanks for the great video!!

I just want to comment on the last part of your video about the paint. I have read books, heard interviews of the Valuzet brothers that supplied the Chargers , met the lead mechanic Tom Sarmento many years ago and the truth as told by the men who built and maintained the cars was that it was many different shades based off the DuPont Dulux paint color orange. The reason it was many shades was due to time. Tom said and Valuzet confirmed that when they were in a time crunch they would thin the paint out so it would dry faster. The cars were different colors and were scuffed and painted so they looked a bit different . My point is whoever says it’s this color is wrong. When they ran out of one brand they used another and mixed it until it was close enough. Some people take things way too serious and lose the fun of the history just to bolster themselves as experts like the guy you mentioned who is a tool imo. He wants to be known as the “man” when it comes to General Lees which is bs. He didn’t build them, he wasn’t part of the show. He was a fan just like the rest of us that found the first GL. He didn’t restore it when he found it. He sold it and made some money on it. I have built several movie and car show replicas that Revell used as the blueprint for the Starsky n Hutch Torino. It doesn’t make me better than any other fan of the shows we grew up on and love. Thanks for sharing your General Lee and enjoy it. All the best👍

Great example of a General Lee! I also have an early production 69 Charger SE that does have the head rests but I have seen over the years early 69s with no headrests. IMO, if you’re happy with your Charger and how it came out , that’s all that matters. Who cares what other people think. IMO doing the paint like the factory did it is the best way to go. I tore mine completely down and it was stripped down to bare metal and painted exactly how Chrysler painted them. I didn’t put the undercoating but painted and powder coated a lot of the pieces underneath for detail and durability. Great job! Enjoy 👍

Flame Red is a great color. TNT Express is a great color. For TNT Express, that scan took into consideration the gold original color -- so if you want to spray to get that color, you can now just put it over a primer and spray it without adding a gold layer. Flame Red/Orange is such a great color too. It's nice that there are options and neither are incorrect. At this point Flame Red/Orange is so accepted now that there is nothing wrong with it either.

I wouldn't trust the scans, because #1. these cars sat for 7 years between 1984-1991, and California sun is notorious for damaging skin, paint, etc. #2. They quickly painted over the car's original paint. and out of the survivors, one was Gold, one was Burgundy, another was Turquoise. #3. Everyone claims to be a paint expert. it's been claimed by multiple names. #4 ties to #1, but various waxes, polishes and environmental factors can cause a faulty result. (at one point my wife and I had an 06' Chevy HHR and 07' Chevy Trailblazer, were painted by the factory in Imperial Blue Metallic, and my Trailblazer looked lighter in color)

*IF* I was ever to build a General Lee, I would most likely use Hugger Orange, as that is what is said in Tom Sarmento's book "The Man behind the General Lee"

I've always wanted a general Lee. Doubt I'll ever have that kind of money. But, as far as color is concerned, I think I would get some scrap steel and cut it into maybe for or five squares.... then spend a little time and a little extra work and money... and spray out those four or five colors and choose the color that works for ME! No sense in arguing about it... in the end, it's your car. Choose the orange that you like best!!

As being a lifelong painter myself most of everything he's saying is true. Solid colors are easier to match than metallic colors. Different colored primer underneath makes a difference plus also how many coats of paint that you put on it also makes a big difference. You can have some leftover paint for a car and then use that same paint out of the same can to respray one of the panels and it might not match perfectly. Especially when metallics are involved. Then you have to run the exact same air pressure spray pattern but it is a complicated science
